The gift Princess Charlotte wants for Christmas is a total classic

When Princess Charlotte's fourth birthday photos were released earlier this year, they had royal watchers talking about how much the little Princess of Cambridge resembled her great-grandmother, the Queen. Since Her Majesty’s love of horses is well-documented, it's only fitting that Charlotte has asked for a pony for Christmas this year, according to The Sun.

A source told the publication the princess is “obsessed with horses.” Her Majesty and Charlotte have a number of similarities and it seems a love of horses is one of them.

Sadly, though, Santa might not be able to fit a horse in his sleigh for Charlotte! Dad Prince William reportedly thinks his daughter is too young for the gift and it might be better to wait until 2020.

Interestingly, the Daily Mail reports the Queen received a Shetland pony called Peggy when she was four years of age, and she started riding at age six.

Like his younger sister, Prince George has some sporty requests for Christmas presents. He reportedly would like gifts related to tennis, which is his favourite sport, according to Closer Weekly. Earlier this year, George also played a special match against Roger Federer, his favourite tennis star, from whom he's also been receiving lessons.

A source told the publication Charlotte and George will also be receiving children’s cookery sets from Santa because “they love making a mess in the kitchen!”

Here’s hoping the children don't get into the presents early because George has been known to open his gifts early!

There has yet to be any insight on what Prince Louis is getting. He’s still too young to put in special requests, but Duchess Kate revealed on Dec. 4 that the little royal has started talking.

The British Royal Family has some interesting Christmas traditions. The clan’s holiday begins with guesting arriving at Sandringham House from Dec. 23, typically in order of precedence. On Christmas Eve, all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren put the finishing touches on the Christmas tree.

Christmas presents are put out in the Red Drawing Room on Dec. 24 as opposed to Christmas Day. The royals are famous for inexpensive joke gifts, including bath mats and toilet seats!

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan won’t be spending Archie’s first Christmas at Sandringham. The couple reportedly celebrated American Thanksgiving in the United States and are planning to enjoy Dec. 25 with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. It’s not known whether they’ll spend Christmas in the US as well or will return home to Frogmore Cottage, bringing Doria with them for the celebrations.
