This morning, Kensington Palace announced that Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting baby #3...and Kate totally hinted that she was pregnant weeks ago, but we missed it.
AHHHHHHHHHHH! That is my reaction to this morning's news that Prince William and Duchess Catherine are expecting their third child.
The palace made the exciting announcement this morning, after Kate had to cancel an event today in London. Like with her first two pregnancies, Kate is experiencing Hyperemesis Gravidarum, which is extreme morning sickness. Thankfully, the Duchess is being cared for at Kensington Palace and hasn't had to go to the hospital like she did when she was first pregnant with Prince George.
It is believed Duchess Catherine is not yet 12 weeks along and that the couple had to announce the pregnancy early because of her morning sickness. When Kate reaches the 12-week mark, Kensington Palace will make another announcement and tell us which month to expect another cute royal baby. I suspect it will be in March or April, but the royals never release an exact due date. So that means there will be weeks of anxious waiting in the spring as we wonder if Kate is in labour yet!
The pregnancy announcement only came a few hours ago and already there are bets on a name, with Alice and Arthur being the top guesses. I thought Princess Charlotte was going to be a boy named Prince Arthur—clearly I was wrong— but I'm still sticking with that guess for royal baby #3. Kate and William chose not to find out the baby's sex in their first two pregnancies and it's likely they will do the same this time around. But maybe since they already have a girl and a boy, this time they will want to find out. Not that they will tell the media what they are expecting—but Kate could you give me a call to let me know?
What we do know is that this baby will be fifth in line to the throne and like George and Charlotte, will have the title Prince or Princess of Cambridge.
Kate actually hinted at the idea of royal baby #3 back in July, when the family was on an official royal tour of Poland. The Duchess was given a toy meant for a newborn and Kate turned to her husband and said "We will just have to have more babies." Little did we know she was likely already pregnant. That's pretty sneaky, Kate!
Hopefully Prince George and Princess Charlotte are thrilled at the prospect of a new sibling. Prince George actually starts school on Thursday and Kate was planning on taking him. Hopefully she's felling better and can still do drop-off—and then we will get pics of her very tiny baby bump.
Until then, let's all start taking guess on royal baby names.
