Prince William and Kate Middleton have set a date for the next major royal family event: the christening of Prince George. Kensington palace released a statement revealing the highly anticipated details earlier today, September 27.

"Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are pleased to announce the christening of Prince George will take place on Wednesday, 23rd October at The Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace," the statement reads. "Prince George will be christened by The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Reverend Justin Welby."

This isn't the first time a royal family has chosen The Chapel Royal. Princess Beatrice was also christened there, in December 1988.

In addition to what Kate will wear, of course, the world eagerly awaits the identities of Prince George's six godparents, which will be revealed that day. In addition to obvious choices Prince Harry and Pippa Middleton, William's buddy, Guy Pelly, has reportedly been approached, as well as his old friend Thomas van Straubenzee, and Kate's friend Alicia Fox-Pitt.
