The royal baby and third inline to the throne, Prince George, was christened earlier today, Wednesday, October 23, in a surprisingly small ceremony, in front of his parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, their close family and friends.

The ceremony took place at the Chapel Royal of St. James's Palace, was conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, and lasted 45 minutes. The chosen hymns were "Breathe on Me," "Breath of God" and "Be Thou My Vision."

The Chapel Royal of St. James's Palace is particularly special to the family because it was where William's mother, Princess Diana, was laid to rest for five days before her funeral in 1997; and just before the royal wedding, Kate was confirmed there.

Without further ado, here's the video footage from CNN (more details below) — enjoy!

Kate looked stunning in an ivory coat dress with an asymmetrical ruffle, by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen, and a white hat by her fave milliner, Jane Taylor.

Prince George wore a handsome Honiton lace gown, which was a replica of the gown Queen Victoria's oldest daughter wore in 1841.

The godparents were a bit of a shocker, since the only family member honoured with the title was William's cousin Zara Phillips. The other six godparents are William van Cutsem (Prince Charles' late friend Hugh van Cutsem's son), Oliver Baker (Kate and Will's university friend), Emilia Jardine-Paterson (one of Kate's oldest friends), Earl Grosvenor (son of Diana's friends), Julia Samuel (Diana's friend) and royal aide Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton.

Interestingly, this is the first time four generations of the royal family — a monarch and three heirs to the throne — have been photographed together since 1894.
