Celebrate!

Calling all pastry chefs! This sweet little bakeshop is open for business, and there’s plenty of fun to be had. To avoid thwarted (and grumpy) bakers, set up several decorating stations around your dining room table. Lay out the fixings in multiple little bowls, so there’s room for everyone’s artistic vision.

Invite

You’ll need: white-backed scrapbook paper, mini rolling pins (check craft and dollar stores), tape, adhesive labels, rhinestone stickers and scissors. 1. Cut scrapbook paper to the width of rolling pin, leaving enough length to wrap around like a scroll. 2. Write party details on the white side of the paper. 3. Tape one end of the paper to the rolling pin (white side in), fasten with adhesive label and adorn with rhinestone stickers.

Decor

A pretty garland is a cinch to make—you only need colourful muffin liners, white kitchen twine and tape. Fold a muffin liner in half, then fold in half again so it creates a triangle. Fold the pointed tip over, place kitchen twine under crease and tape to secure.

A work of art

To show off your goodies, grab three different sizes of Styrofoam blocks, scissors, tissue paper, a glue stick, cake foil wrap, double-sided tape and doilies. Wrap each block in tissue paper and secure with glue. Cut foil and affix with tape to the top of each block. Glue doilies to the sides, then stack the blocks.

Activity

Have your chefs guess how many cookies are in the jar. Decorate one side of a large jar with card stock, an adhesive label and little flags. Make sure to count how many cookies you put in! The guest who comes closest gets to take home his winnings.
