Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave their baby girl such a beautiful, unique name

And then there were four! Prince Harry and Meghan Markle welcomed their baby girl last week, making two-year-old Archie a big brother. The couple gave their new addition the sweetest name: Lilibet Diana.

While it's a beautiful moniker, it also pays tribute to two members of Prince Harry's family: the Queen, whose childhood nickname was Lilibet, and his late mom, Princess Diana. We're not surprised about the latter, which is also one of Princess Charlotte's middle names, but Lilibet was a fun surprise. It's also a tribute to Harry's grandfather, Prince Philip, who passed away this year and used to call his wife Lilibet.

And we're totally smitten. The name is unique while still honouring Her Majesty, and the nickname they'll call her, Lili, is such a beautiful spring-worthy name for a June baby. Harry actually showed interest in the name Lily back in 2019 during an outing with Meghan when she was pregnant with Archie. A little girl told him her name was Lily and he asked how it was spelled. Who knew?

We can't wait to see her when the pair decide to share a first glimpse!

"On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili," read a statement on the couple's Archewell Foundation site, announcing Lilibet 'Lili' Diana Mountbatten-Windsor's birth. "She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."

On Sunday, the new parents-of-two shared in an official statement that "mother and child are healthy and well, and settling in at home. Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales."

Their little girl weighed 7 lbs 11 oz and made her entrance at 11:40 am at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, in Santa Barbara, California, where the family has been living since last summer.

June is doubly exciting for Meghan, who welcomed two babies this month: little Lilibet, and her first children's book, The Bench, which hits book shelves just in time for  Father's Day. It explores the relationships between a diverse group of  sons and fathers. As she gets to know her little girl and the special bond they're bound to have, maybe she'll be doing research for a second book about mothers and daughters.

For anyone who remembers bringing home baby number two, the adjustment is no joke, so we're wishing them all the best as they settle into their new normal—and Archie takes on his new role of big brother!
