Last month, Ellen DeGeneres revealed that she’d travelled to the UK earlier this year to meet with Duchess Meghan and Prince Harry about conservation work. We now know that while the beloved talk show host and comedian was there, she got to spend time with baby Archie!

In her promo for the 17th season of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, she said wife Portia De Rossi had gone with her across the pond, and described "down to earth" Harry and Meghan as the "cutest couple." Ellen joked that it was "an honour for them to meet me," and then talked about how adorable Archie was.

“I fed Archie, I held Archie,” she said, before she quipped, “He weighs 15 pounds, which in the exchange rate is $17 here!”

As for who four-month-old Archie resembles the most, Ellen said he looks like his father. “He looks like Harry,” she said. “He actually has a perfectly circular head. He looks just like Harry and he had more hair than I did at the time.”

Ellen is among a select few celebrities and friends of Harry and Meghan who have met Archie so far. Serena Williams was thought to have done so earlier this year after she posted a selfie from inside an ornate room that very much looked like it could have been at Frogmore Cottage or a royal estate. Jessica Mulroney, one of Meghan’s closest friends, also travelled across the pond earlier this year with her daughter Ivy, and posted a picture from inside a toy store just around the corner from the royals’ Windsor estate.

Conservationist Jane Goodall met the little boy earlier this summer when she visited with Harry and Meghan about her work and theirs, and Harry interviewed her for a piece that was featured in the issue of British Vogue guest-edited by Meghan. She described him as “very cute and very gentle” and said they also had a cuddle session!

In August, Ellen came to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s defence after they faced criticism for taking a private jet to Ibiza and southern France. After they stayed at Elton John and David Furnish’s villa in the French Riviera, Elton spoke out on the couple’s behalf, saying he had hired the jet and offset its carbon impact. The same day, Ellen said she didn’t think Harry and Meghan deserved the things that were being written about them. She reiterated that statement on September 9.

“Seriously, they are so amazing,” she said. “They’re the cutest people and so down to earth. I just hate it, I see them get attacked and it’s not fair. They’re just two of the most down to earth and compassionate people. They’re doing so much good for the world.

“Portia and I talked to them about all the conservation they are doing for wildlife,” Ellen continued. “They are doing all this work in Botswana for elephants and I love that, and they like what I’m doing for the gorillas in Rwanda, so we’re gonna all do something together.”

Harry, Meghan and Archie are set to travel to South Africa for their royal tour on September 22. The couple reportedly want to bring their little boy to one of their engagements, but aren't sure how to do that yet. Harry will make separate solo visits to Botswana, Angola and Malawi as part of the tour, which will wrap on October 2 back in South Africa.
