Our parent tester swears by the WonderFold wagon stroller—it's a rugged and versatile investment that'll last for years.
When the weekend comes around, my little family of three—me, my husband and our 2-year-old daughter—head out to fairs, parks or even a winery as often as possible. Hours-long excursions mean more packing and being prepared for anything, plus, there can be some unpredictable terrain. Those are the times when my husband and I swap our regular stroller for the WonderFold W2 Luxe Stroller Wagon—it's one of my top favourite buys as a toddler mom.
The WonderFold W2 Luxe is spacious and seats two to four children. It features an adjustable canopy and plenty of storage, including a rear basket. You can customize it with accessories (sold separately) to truly make it the stroller wagon of your dreams. When your child won’t stay in their stroller, this wagon allows them to stand up to stretch their legs for a moment (with your eye on them, of course). We'll cover everything you need to know in this WonderFold W2 Luxe stroller wagon review.
The WonderFold Luxe is a premium stroller wagon that’s available in two-seat (W2) and four-seat (W4) options. The stroller wagons come with two seats (individual or bench), canopy poles and fabric, a rear basket and a pull strap. It’s the ultimate blend of stroller and wagon to create a companion for outdoor adventures. For parents who need extra space and want a model with functionality, you’ll wonder how you went so long without it.
There are plenty of stroller wagons out there, but the WonderFold Luxe's rugged steel build stands out. The W2 is designed for ages 6 months and up. Keep in mind that the wagon weighs 53 pounds on its own, so it’s not exactly lightweight. However, the all-terrain, extra-large wheels make pushing it a smooth process—whether you’re strolling on gravel, through a pumpkin patch or in hilly areas.
There’s a lot to love about the WonderFold W2 Luxe, and its features are what make it one of the best wagon strollers. But first, I’d be remiss not to talk about the price tag. The two-seat is $659 and the four-seater is $899 (although the brand does offer major discounts from time to time).
Believe it or not, those prices aren't that steep compared to other brands like Jeep and Veer. If you consider how much use you’ll get out of it—and how much easier it’ll make days out with the family—it’s a worthy investment. Now let’s get to the good stuff: the features that take the WonderFold W2 Luxe to the next level.
The W2 Luxe has a spacious interior where you can use one or both seats (and on the W4, you can use one or both benches). The rest of the storage space can be used for a diaper bag, shopping bags or whatever you need. This stroller wagon comes with a rear basket that attaches to the side with the handlebar.
There’s additional storage in the form of zipper mesh panels and a closed compartment on the other three sides. If that’s still not enough, you can add even more storage by purchasing accessories (listed below).
Whether it’s a sunny summer day or a rainy fall afternoon, the removable canopy comes in handy. It’s adjustable, so you can bring the rods up on one side and down on the other to effectively protect your little one from the elements.
The good news is that this stroller wagon is incredibly easy to fold. Simply unlatch the center on either side and pull up. Then, you hook the bottom to hold it together. While it folds, the wagon isn't that compact. You have to remove the seats to get it folded, and still, it’ll take up considerable room in the trunk of your car. When folded with the seats, it measures 25 inches long by 20 inches wide by 43 inches tall.
One of the benefits of opting for the W2 or W4 Luxe is that both models come with heavy-duty wheels. The back two wheels are all-terrain XL wheels with suspension and bearings to help with maneuvering. They're designed to tackle uneven terrain, cruise through grass and venture where regular strollers struggle to go.
The stroller wagon itself, including the removable seats, weighs 53 pounds. In my experience, it doesn’t feel that heavy when you’re pushing it along. With the W2, each seat holds 45 pounds, and the stroller wagon has a total weight capacity of 200 pounds with storage. The W4 weighs 59.8 pounds with the seats. Each bench holds 99 pounds, and the total weight capacity is 300 pounds.
The brake is super easy to access, as it’s located toward the bottom of the model under the handlebar. It’s simple to step on it so the stroller wagon stays in place. And when it’s time to go again, just use your foot to flick the brake up. The handlebar is covered in faux leather and it’s adjustable to fit your height.
Caitlyn FitzpatrickAll of WonderFold’s stroller wagons have been tested and certified by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), a standards organization that establishes voluntary performance requirements and test methods for products, materials, systems and services. The W2 Luxe is equipped with multiple features so parents can feel safe pushing their little ones along.
The high quality is evident right off the bat with the W2 Luxe. It just feels like it’s built to last. And that’s probably because the frame is made of sturdy steel, polyamide and polypropylene plastics, and the carriage mesh is made of durable polyester. All of WonderFold’s stroller wagons are free of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAs), bisphenol A (BPA), phthalates and heavy metals.
Whether you choose the two- or four-seat model, each seat has a five-point harness that’s padded for comfort. The Luxe also has a magnetic harness, which offers additional restraint to ensure a child can’t unhook it themselves.
There are over two dozen accessories to make your W series stroller wagon that much better. If you find yourself outdoors a lot, the dust cover, mosquito net, rain cover, shade net, weather cover, wind cover or winter cover will come in handy. If your child is younger than 6 months, the lounger accessory acts as a bassinet so that you can wheel them along, too.
I don’t have any of these accessories. However, every time we use the WonderFold W2 Luxe, my husband and I remind each other how we need to snag the 2-in-1 cup & phone holder or the parent console because we always need a place to put our water or coffee.
I’m not exaggerating when I say that we can’t go anywhere without getting at least one positive comment about this stroller wagon. If I had a dollar for every time someone commented on how luxurious it looks or how much they wish they could be pushed around in it—the wagon just looks that good.
The WonderFold W2 Luxe is easy to fold and unfold and only takes one person. The canopy is easy to adjust, too. When the sun shifts positions, I move the canopy to shield my daughter. It also creates her own little area when we’re out in a crowded place. For now, since we only have one child, we typically take out the second seat so we can store the diaper bag, toys and other essentials. When it’s time for baby #2, I do not doubt that there will still be room for what we need.
Caitlyn FitzpatrickYou never realize how much you’d appreciate something a bit more heavy-duty until you get to your destination. When we were shopping for a stroller wagon, the wheels were the most important part to my husband. He wanted something that could stand up to wherever we found ourselves. We’ve used this stroller wagon at street fairs, a brewery, a pumpkin patch, a tulip field and more. If we had brought our regular stroller to these places, I’d worry that the wheels would be damaged. My husband was right on this one: These heavy-duty wheels are a must-have.
You do have to consider what kind of vehicle you have before getting the WonderFold wagon. Even when folded, it’s a bit bulky, and it doesn’t fold completely flat (we can’t expect magic here). It fits fine in the back of my SUV and my husband’s Jeep, but if you have a sedan or something similar, I wonder if it would take up too much room. Still, I wouldn’t let this factor discourage you from purchasing one.
I’m hesitant to say that the WonderFold W2 Luxe is best for families with multiple children. Are there two- and four-seat models? Yes. Is it helpful to keep a gaggle of kids contained in one place? For sure. But for right now, I only have one child and don’t find it to be too much. So, the WonderFold W2 Luxe is really for any family that craves extra space—whether that be for a kid or just stuff—and is always seeking out their next outdoor adventure.
There’s a reason that the WonderFold W2 Luxe is a trusted stroller wagon: It combines quality, safety and functionality to help families on the go. The price tag may worry you, but considering the spacious interior, customizability and convenience, it demonstrates its value for years to come. Families of all sizes can benefit from this stroller wagon, and I highly recommend it for those who frequently go on outings where a regular stroller is just not enough.
