You’re not alone if you have concerns about what’s in your skincare products. With an ingredient list loaded with certified-organic and natural ingredients, Carina Organics Unscented Daily Moisturizing and Hydrating Skin Cream is one less thing you need to worry about. This cream’s moisturizing plant, vegetable, flower and tree extracts and oils help your skin maintain its moisture barrier, plus it’s unscented and free of parabens, dyes, soy and gluten. And both our editors and parent testers found this lightweight, fast-absorbing cream keeps skin soft and soothed, without the thick and tacky residue left behind by a lot of moisturizers.
In our Today’s Parent Approved lab, we tested a wide range of body creams, evaluating each against various criteria including how they made our skin feel and how easily the container was to handle. We also asked parent testers to try the cream and report back on how it worked for them on a day-to-day basis. Most were impressed with the consistency and hydration it provided, and many said they preferred it to other creams they’ve used. Parents also told us that, based on the ingredients, they felt good about using it themselves and on their kids, and all but one tester (who prefers thicker creams) said they wouldn’t hesitate to purchase it. While they were lukewarm on the price, it’s worth noting that our editors assessed the price per 100 millilitres for each cream we tested, and Carina Organics Unscented Daily Moisturizing and Hydrating Skin Cream was the most affordable all-natural product we tested and well below average overall.
A simple-to-use product makes life easier, and we found the pump on this cream dispensed cream efficiently and kept things hygienic and tidy. Moms told us they found it easy to dispense a precise amount of this cream, and we agree—though you might be a tad surprised the first time you use it with how quickly the cream comes out due to its relatively thinner consistency. The pump also locks with a slight twist, which is helpful if you need to pack this cream for a weekend away or if you have a curious kiddo.
A benefit of the thinner texture of Carina Organics Unscented Daily Moisturizing and Hydrating Skin Cream is how easily it spreads over the skin. In our lab, we found a dime-sized dollop spread over a fairly large area of skin, and we were super impressed that it absorbed completely within a minute of application, leaving no trace of an oily or tacky residue on the skin. And even though it’s very light, skin our skin still felt moisturized several hours after application. Most parent testers experienced similar results, telling us that their skin was noticeably softer immediately after they applied the cream. A couple did reapply within a few hours, which suggests this cream works best when used on a daily basis as a preventative measure against dry skin, rather than healing severely dry skin.
If anyone in your family has sensitive skin or a scent sensitivity, you’ll be happy to know this cream is completely unscented. We’re serious—there is no smell, not even that funky fresh odour some natural, unscented products have. That said, if you do like a little fragrance, you can get this cream in natural Citrus or Sweet Pea scents.
Given its ability to provide softer skin immediately after application with an all-natural formula, it’s not surprising that Carina Organics Unscented Daily Moisturizing and Hydrating Skin Cream impressed editors and parent testers alike. All but one of our testers gave this body cream good or very good ratings for quality and ease of use. Not only did those testers feel it’s worthy of the Today’s Parent Approved seal, they also said they’d recommend it to other parents. Our editors were similarly impressed, and we think this cream is a great option for chemical-wary families.
