Let's be honest: dish-duty isn't the most thrilling activity. But, with the right dish soap this chore can quickly be turned into a satisfying task. Palmolive Ultra Oxy Power Degreaser and Odour Fighter edged out a lot of the dish soaps that we tested in the Today’s Parent Approved lab. Our editors were impressed by the soap’s stellar cleaning ability. Palmolive effortlessly tackled caked-on foods and greasy messes and did a great job of removing lingering odours. At the end of the day, you’re left with sparkling dishes that have a slight "ocean" smell.
You may be wondering what, exactly, an oxygenated cleaner is. Products touting this feature contain active ingredients that produce a lot of bubbles when combined with water. The oxygen bubbles break through the bonds between the mess and the surface of the dish, while deodorizing at the same time, to effortlessly lift greasy or baked-on foods off your dishes. The idea is that oxygenated cleaners make tough messes easier to clean.
To test Palmolive's efficacy, Today’s Parent Approved editors gave dirty dishes (which had been resting overnight) a five-minute soak in soapy water. This resulted in nearly full removal of leftover grime from notoriously tough-to-clean foods like mac and cheese, spaghetti sauce and peanut butter. Remaining bits were easily removed with a sponge and a light scrub. Not even the greasiest dishes were a match for the sudsy action of Palmolive Ultra Oxy Power Degreaser and Odour Fighter, which our editors were quite impressed with. For the majority of our parent testers, the cleaning experience was equally positive, whether they were cleaning baby bottles or ceramic bakeware. As for the dreaded streaks and spots? You won't get any with this dish soap. Plus, all of our parent testers agreed that using the soap with bare hands didn’t leave them feeling dry or irritated.
Thanks to its simple flip-cap design, the bottle is easy to open and close with one hand. Plus, its contoured shape makes gripping easy, even when the bottle is wet. The consistency of Palmolive Ultra Oxy Power Degreaser and Odour Fighter is on the runnier side, but our parent testers were able to use the amount of soap they desired. Only one parent tester felt it was difficult to keep the bottle neat and tidy. The majority of our parent testers said that a little of this dish soap goes a long way, and they were happy with how long a bottle lasted in their households.
Overall, our parent testers were happy with Palmolive Ultra Oxy Power Degreaser and Odour Fighter’s cleaning performance, and most felt that it was better compared to other dish soaps they’ve used in the past. It’s a product they would not only purchase on their own, but also recommend to other parents. Both parent testers and our editors felt that this dish soap’s quality and ease of use adds major value. Its oxygenated formula helps it perform remarkably well in tackling tough foods, grease and odours, which makes Palmolive Ultra Oxy Power Degreaser and Odour Fighter worthy of the Today’s Parent Approved seal.
