Often cheaper than their brand-name equivalents, they’re also occasionally the same or better in quality—sometimes even made by the same company that manufactures the original. Stock up, and avoid having to swap the batteries from your kids’ toys to power your remote. In Consumer Reports testing, Kirkland Signature alkaline AAs were rated a “Best Buy” because of their performance and price, which is currently about 52 cents per pair (Duracell performed better, but cost more than twice as much).
