You know how home renovations always take way longer than you thought they would? You'd think the same thing would happen with major construction at a theme park. But it's time to start planning those summer vacations to Disney because some sort of miracle just happened—Disney just announced that the new Star Wars land, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, will be opening earlier than all the rumours suggested!
That's right, the new area of the parks finally has an opening date, and it's earlier than we expected. The Star Wars adventures will open to the public in Disneyland in California on May 31st and in Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida on August 29th. So exciting!
According to a press release, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge will transport guests to the remote planet of Batuu, where they can immerse themselves in the struggle between the Resistance and the First Order. And when they say this land is fully immersive, they mean it! Guests will be able to interact with this area of the park in a way that's different from all the other lands in Disney history.
Using the Play Disney Parks mobile app, guests can choose their own adventure by deciding which side they want to pledge their loyalty to: the Resistance or the evil First Order. (Alternatively, you can also choose a somewhat neutral route and aid a smuggler instead of picking sides.) Your choice in the app will shape how you experience the world through fun storytelling and interactive experiences throughout the land's many shops and attractions.

On opening day, guests will be able to take control of the famous starship with the new ride, Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. Later on in the year, the land will open phase two with a second ride that puts you right into the heat of intergalactic battle called Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. In addition to the rides, guest can also try a medley of foods and even make their own custom lightsabers! Sign us up!
If you're planning on being some of the first guests to experience Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge this summer, you'll have to have valid theme park admission and make a reservation beforehand, so be sure to keep an eye out for more info about the reservation process on the Disney Parks Blog. Until then, may the Force be with you!
