Parents may be so over it at this point, but it looks like the catchy song your kids can't get enough of isn't going anywhere.

Just when you thought the kids could move on from last year's wildly popular (and painfully catchy) song about a family of sharks, Pinkfong just announced plans to turn it into a cartoon series on Netflix.
The South Korean company behind the famously viral song announced it's creating a Baby Shark TV show for Netflix this year. (We're not sure if that includes Netflix Canada as well, but we better prepare for it anyways). It will be making short, kid-oriented videos that will enter homes across North America, confirming that the phenomenon is here to stay and won't be going anywhere!
Kids everywhere will inevitably be dancing and singing along to more catchy tunes as the company says it is also making a cartoon series and musical in the future. If that isn't enough, it's also developing games that will work on virtual assistants like Google Home and Amazon's Alexa.
Love it or hate it, you can't blame the company for capitalizing on its massive popularity. Pinkfong has made millions of dollars since the video was posted in 2015 and has accumulated more than 2.2 billion views on YouTube (it even charted the Billboard Top 100). It also plans on creating content for kids ages five to eight, but instead of using a family of sharks, it will use penguins. Cute!
Maybe it's time we learn to embrace the song for what it is, because if you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right? Long live Baby Shark! (And RIP our sanity.)
