7 reasons why we really hope Mindy Kaling is pregnant

Mindy Kaling isn't confirming (or denying) the rumour that she's expecting her first child, but we really hope it's true, because the actress would be one amazing mom.

According to the rumour mill, Mindy Kaling is pregnant with her first child. So far Mindy's reps are not commenting on the pregnancy (or who the dad might be), but I literally cannot contain my excitement for The Mindy Project star. I really hope the rumours are true and that it's B.J. Novak's baby.

As we await confirmation from Mindy about her "unexpected surprise," we have come up with a few reasons why she will be an awesome mom.

1. Mindy can give birth anytime and anywhere Mindy is totally ready to give birth and can do so anywhere—even in the subway. On her show, her character Mindy Lahiri almost gives birth on a stalled subway car and she uses the power of Beyoncé to get her through the pain. In real life, Mindy knows all about giving birth thanks to her mom, who was an OB/GYN. Though nothing can really prepare you for childbirth.

2. She will have the best maternity wardrobe OK, so this one technically has nothing to do with what kind of mom she'll be, but you can't talk about Mindy without talking about her fabulous style. She is going to have an amazing pregnancy wardrobe. Sorry Kate and Amal, but there's a new maternity-wear queen in town.

3. She's all for breastfeeding in public Remember that episode of The Mindy Project where Mindy is shamed for breastfeeding on the subway? Mindy is of course offended and later teaches the man a lesson by baring her breast at him and spraying him with breastmilk. Obviously, Mindy won't do that in real life, but you can bet she will tell off anyone who tries to stop her from breastfeeding in public.

4. She's really good with kids So her character sometimes makes questionable parenting choices (leaving Leo in a box while she works?!) but in real life, Mindy is a great godmother. She often posts photos of her sweet godson and all the fun things they do together. We can't wait to see all her Instagram posts of her and her baby.

5. She dreams big Mindy doesn't let anything limit her in life and she will definitely share those big dreams with her kid. "I never want to be called the funniest Indian female comedian that exists," Mindy told New York magazine in 2012. "I feel like I can go head-to-head with the best white, male comedy writers that are out there. Why would I want to self-categorize myself into a smaller group than I’m able to compete in?" Yes, Queen!

6. She embraces being "chubby" Mindy embraces her love of food and says she identifies as "the cute, chubby girl." Her ideas about body weight are incredibly refreshing. In an interview with The Guardian, Mindy said "Insults about the way I look can't be the thing that harms me and my heart the most. It has to harm me the least. If I have a daughter, I'm going to tell her that. Far too many women are much more hurt by being called fat or ugly than they are by being called not smart, or not a leader. If someone told me that I was stupid or that I wasn't a leader, or that I wasn't witty or quick or perceptive, I'd be devastated. If someone told me that I had a gross body, I'd say, 'Well, it's bringing me a lot of happiness.' Like, I'm having a fine time of it. Having my priorities aligned like that has helped me have a happier life, I think."

7. She's a total warrior "Why the f*ck not me" should be your motto," Mindy tweeted in 2014, and she's so right. Mindy Kaling has her own TV show which she writes, produces and stars in. She has two best-selling books and another on the way. Oh yeah, and she's starring in a movie with Oprah. Mindy is a total bad*ss who will inspire her kid every damn day.
