A Chicago mom has been recreating stills from Oscar-nominated flicks with her kids since 2011. Awards season never looked so cute!
When it comes to awards season, nothing beats the Oscars—even if we haven't seen any of the nominated films yet. (Who has time between laundry, swimming lessons and playdates?) While most of us parents lament the good old days when we could catch a flick at a moment's notice, one Chicago mom has found a unique way to get her tots in on the Oscar action—recreating stills from the movies nominated for best picture with her kids.
It all started back in 2011, when Chicago mom Maggie Storino dressed up her daughters, Sophia and Sadie, now four and three, and snapped some pictures on a whim. The shots were so popular among her friends that Maggie created the Tumblr Don’t Call me Oscar to share them. She's continued with the tradition every year since.
We’re completely charmed by these adorable girls standing in for popular actors such as Michael Keaton (in Birdman, above), dad-to-be Benedict Cumberbatch and Saoirse Ronan.
The girls really got into the spirit of things this year, their mom said in an article at vanityfair.com, but they did notice something missing in this year’s crop of photos: only two of the eight images feature women. Smart cookies, these two.
Head on over to Don't Call Me Oscar for more of these fun photos.
