Who Is Jen Hamilton? Meet The Viral Labour And Delivery Nurse
The labour-and-delivery nurse and new author has built a huge following with honest birth advice, humour and a deeply reassuring voice for moms.

Jen Hamilton
Labour and delivery nurse, author and social media influencer Jen Hamilton is known for her quick-witted and authentic approach to maternal healthcare and advocacy. Whether she’s posting honest reflections on life in healthcare or showing off her pet chickens from her North Carolina backyard, Hamilton is known for being a trusted advisor and digital friend to many moms.
Earlier this month, Hamilton published her debut book, Birth Vibes: Stories and Strategies for an Empowered Birth. It received critical praise, including a ringing endorsement from the so-called "matriarch of birthing support," Ina May Gaskin, author of the bestselling book Ina May's Guide to Childbirth.
Most recently, Hamilton has garnered attention with a frank and emotional breakup announcement: The influencer posted a video message to her social media platforms saying she's "absolutely devastated" and "emotionally shattered" in her relationship, hinting at a split with husband of 14 years Brian Hamilton. (She's since posted a follow-up that she regrets all the attention she invited with the post, and has asked people to stop discussing her family situation.)
Hamilton uses her online platform to advocate and educate mothers towards a patient-empowered birth that is based on knowledge and evidence—but she also uses her account to connect to her audience on a personal level, sharing the highs and lows of womanhood in a candid and relatable voice.
Who is Jen Hamilton?
Jen Hamilton boasts over six million followers across various social media accounts. Before moving to L&D in 2018, Hamilton worked in the ER. The mom of two started her social media accounts in 2020, during the pandemic, as a tool to reach mothers and document her experience as a nurse in the labour and delivery ward.
Hamilton’s book is titled Birth Vibes, which is also a catchphrase she has coined to describe her desire to see new parents and healthcare practitioners focus more on a supportive and nurturing environment—that is, the overall “vibes” of the birth experience, rather than on a stringent birth plan.
In a podcast interview with author Jen Hatmaker, the nurse said: “I can watch someone have a birth that goes completely off the rails and they leave that experience looking back positively on it if they were heard, respected, empowered and informed. It has so little to do with what happens and so much more to do with how it happens.”
Hamilton also went viral last year when she decided to change her son’s name when he was six months old. Originally named “Aspen”, she and her husband decided to go with “Luke” after getting to know their son’s personality better.
In May 2026, Hamilton appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote her book. During the segment, she said, “You can show up to the hospital nipples in the wind, and we will take care of you.” Clarkson jokingly replied that she wants to have “nipples in the wind” stitched onto a pillow.
Why do moms love Jen Hamilton?
Hamilton originally only intended to post videos of her indoor chickens, but quickly learned that women were craving birth guidance and support from an empathetic professional. She still posts the cute chick videos, but she also talks about online birth misinformation that circulates via influencers—like in this TikTok post combating the lie that medical inductions aren’t necessary. She comments often on pop culture topics, like her love of the popular medical drama The Pitt.
Hamilton is also liked for her candor on politics. She ignited controversy when she began reading from her Bible while headlines about Trump’s presidency scrolled across the screen. She intended to showcase that the actions of the MAGA political movement directly contradicted the verses in the Bible. What ensued was a bullying campaign that leaked into her personal life, where she was targeted by people who wanted her to be stripped of her license.
Hamilton didn’t back down and continues to speak up and advocate for marginalized women, particularly when it comes to healthcare access.
Watching any of Hamilton’s reels feels like you’re checking in with a beloved friend. She’s open, honest and down-to-earth. Her sense of humour reaches across the screen, and there’s no doubt that mothers feel comforted by her strong presence and confidence. She is incredibly knowledgeable and uses her knowledge to equip others and help them feel confident in their own birth journey.
Hamilton lets others into her life and bares it all. Four years ago, she even documented her journey with plastic surgery, which included a breast lift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck and muscle repair.
What’s the Birth Vibes Book About?
The tone in Birth Vibes is refreshing and funny while still being responsible and informative. Her goal was to use her unique voice and expertise to empower parents as they navigate childbirth, combining practical tips with personal storytelling to create one compelling guide.
There are a limited number of birth manuals in the world, with many women continuing to rely on the new-parent Bible What To Expect When You’re Expecting, which has to date sold 21 million copies and remains the go-to choice for expecting parents. Things have changed, though, and Hamilton's Birth Vibes meets parents where they are with her compassionate approach to the daunting task of childbirth.
