Yea or nay?: Sarah Jessica Parker's bright NYC "clashion"

Just in time for New York Fashion Week (begins tomorrow!), Sarah Jessica Parker shows up on the David Letterman set earlier today wearing THIS. I was always told that pink and red clash. I was also always told no white after Labour Day. Not sure if that applies to pants only -- or shoes (and bags) too. Anyone? And didn't Jessica Simpson put an end to the high waist?
