First-time grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton visit the St. Mary's Hospital to meet the newborn Prince.
The grandparents have arrived!
New grandparents Carole and Michael Middleton are the first to visit Kate, William and their new baby boy. They arrived at St. Mary's hospital at 3 p.m. London time, on Tuesday afternoon — just less than 24 hours after the birth.
Carole and Michael rolled in by taxi, beaming as they entered the hospital. They were coming from their home in Bucklebury, where we understand the Duchess and baby will spend the next few weeks.
When they left the hospital, they shared some tidbits with the media, describing their first grandchild as "absolutely beautiful," and adding that the new parents are "doing fabulously."
"They're both doing really well," she said. "We are so thrilled."
When asked for a hint about the baby's name, Carole smiled and said, "Absolutely not!"
Carole is expected to be play a major role in the Prince's childhood, and thus, in shaping the monarchy. She and Kate are very close; they were spotted recently shopping for baby clothes.
More royal baby updates to come! The royal couple and new Prince could emerge within the hour from St. Mary's (otherwise not until tomorrow).
