Kourtney Kardashian TV birth scandal (VIDEO): Are people overreacting?

Amazing!

Scandalous September!

This month has been rife with so-called parenting scandals. First it was Jessica Simpson and her baby bikini photos, which drew major criticism and outrage, and now it's Kourtney Kardashian, 33, because she pulled out her new baby, Penelope Scotland Disick, with her own two hands in front of the whole world — on her reality TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians. (This isn't the first time Kourtney has shared her birth video with the masses. She did the same with her now-2.5-year-old son Mason.)

I finally had the chance to watch it last night, and I was amazed:

A) I was amazed that she could reach over her belly and pull out the baby (I could never have done that!).
B) I was amazed that her brother Rob Kardashian, stepdad Bruce Jenner, and Kanye West (Kim Kardashian's boyfriend), were in the room watching the baby's head come out....
C) I was amazed at how calm and relaxed Kourtney was.
D) I was amazed that doctors actually let you pull out your own baby. I mean, who knew that was an option? (Now we know....)
E) I was pretty amazed that they televised this whole, very personal event.

"Kourtney just loves pulling out her own children,” her sister Khloe says to the cameras, after the birth. “She decides to pull Nelly out, as well.”

Anyway, as your Celebrity Candy host, it's my job to bring you the latest buzz. And the people are buzzing big time about this — people are calling it gross, a sell-out, a what-will-they-stoop-to-next-bathroom-footage outrage, etc., etc. But others are praising the video for showcasing vaginal birth. The scheduled C-section rates are off the charts in the US, so this is a step in a new direction, and gives moms who want to have a natural birth some inspiration.

Didn't see the video? Here it is....
