Tina Fey wowed in this Narciso Rodriguez number in royal blue. The dress was notably snug, but not too snug for Tina to crawl up the stairs to present with Amy Poehler — too funny! — and not too snug for her to walk up later on in the evening to accept the much-deserved Emmy for comedy writing. Congrats, Tina!

Claire Danes picked up her third Emmy last night — congrats, Claire! Her sheer Armani Privé dress was also a winner, topping most of the night's best-dressed lists. Her hair, however, a "faux bob," drew quite the controversy on Twitter. What did you think of it?

“Thrilled to have dressed my gorgeous, talented and hilarious friend Sofia Vergara for the Emmy's tonight!! XxVera,” Vera Wang tweeted. Indeed, Sofia Vergara did not disappoint in the hot red Vera Wang number and multi-coloured Lorraine Schwartz jewellery designed just for her.
Who knew Anna Faris was so petite? Her costar Allison Janney towered over her as they presented on the podium, as did Giuliana Rancic. So she looked positively pixyish in this lovely yellow Monique Lhuillier gown. "I love the bold colour," she said of the dress.
When the conversation moved to her one-year-old, Jack, Anna told Giuliana motherhood was hard work, but "it's reprioritized my life."
Also in Monique Lhuillier was Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who picked up her sixth Emmy last night — congrats, Julia! The funny star shimmered in this sequined strapless number. Gorj!
Amy Poehler looked lovely in this simple black Basler dress with the unique dragon detail on the sides. She paired the dress with Irene Neuwirth jewellery and, as she put it, "a good attitude." Ha!

I love Laura Dern's show, Enlightened — so happy that she was nominated for her starring role in it. She looked beautiful last night in this sheer, beaded Naeem Khan dress.
Also in Naeem Khan was Connie Britton. She rocked the red carpet in this velvet, peacock-blue and gold gown, custom Stuart Weitzman clutch and Cathy Waterman jewellery, which, she said, "is worth more than she is." Ha!

"I can breathe, but there's been a serious lack of carbohydrates to make that happen," Julie Bowen said of squeezing into this peach Zac Posen dress. "I was a little hungry," she said. "It wasn't so bad."
Project Runway's Heidi Klum dazzled in this sparkly Versace number. Her costar, fashion guru Tim Gunn, called the colour "pomegranate."
"It is a little unusual," Heidi said of the tight collar. "It's not the most loosey-goosey dress I've ever worn." She also said she loved that it wasn't as revealing as other dresses she's worn — and that's true. She's never looked better.

Of course, the star of Fashion Police and cohost of E!'s Live from the Red Carpet Emmys pre-show, Giuliana Rancic, aced it on the red carpet in this stunning blue gown by Canadian designer Mikael D. But it was her borrowed $1 million Forevermark diamond ring that was the talk of the town (she had to have a bodyguard for the night). BLING!

Also in blue was new mom Malin Akerman — in this grey-blue ethereal Marchese dress with a mermaid tail. Lovely!
