Parents started quite the discussion on our Facebook page yesterday! We asked what their children call private parts. We quickly learned that most parents teach their kids the proper terminology, but some of them have cute nicknames anyway.

Here are five euphemisms for both boys and girls that made me laugh out loud.

Boys: Peanut, Junk, Dinky, Pickle, Twig ‘n Berries
Girls: Hoo-Hoo, ‘gyna, Vajayjay, Cheech, Boobies

Experts say that accurate terminology should be used to describe the penis and vagina to children as young as three, so they can start differentiating between the sexes and learn that it’s okay to talk about their bodies.

At my house, we used to call our private parts “bud” and “buddy.” I grew up knowing what they were really called, but I chose to use these nicknames anyway. I don't see anything wrong with teaching kids about their anatomy but letting them call it whatever they’re most comfortable with.

What do you think of the list? What have your kids chosen to call their private parts?
