The newest entry in Nintendo’s beloved Mario Kart™ series now provides the ability to control a real-life Mario Kart—“driven” by either Mario or Luigi! Each kart is equipped with a camera that lets ‘kids of all ages’ steer through the home course as it comes to life on-screen with a view from right behind the driver’s seat.

How it works

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit comes to life with the kart and downloaded software on your Nintendo Switch™ or Nintendo Switch Lite system (the game is free to download, but you’ll need a kart to play). The kart comes with four easy- to-assemble numbered Gates and two Arrow Signboards that you can quickly set up in the shape of a unique race course on floors in your house. Once you’ve arranged the gates, all you need do is drive the kart through them to record and create a track that you can begin racing on right away. Close-up of Mario Kart racing on the floor

Design your course

Course construction is simple and makes for a fantastic creative outlet that can lead to hours of fun. Kids can surround the virtual race course with soft household items—such as plastic cups and empty cardboard boxes—and even place obstacles into the middle of the track. For more action-packed and challenging races, try designing your course to swerve through furniture, between the legs of the couch or underneath a coffee table. And you can get even more inventive by customizing your course within the game. Start by trying a snow, jungle, or underwater environment with virtual elements that appear onscreen and effect the race, such as Freezies that can encase in-game karts in ice to slow them down. Then continue tinkering as much as you like, adding classic Mario Kart obstacles such as Piranha Plants as well as Item Boxes that you can drive through to pick up familiar Items, including coloured shells, Super Stars, and Bob-ombs. How you can experience the world of Mario Kart

Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is an entirely new way to experience Mario Kart. You can set up your own Grand Prix events on the courses you create within your house, challenge yourself and your friends with time trials, select racing speeds ranging between 50cc and 200cc, and race against up to three of your friends in the same room (so long as each player has their own Nintendo Switch system, the Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit game, and kart). You’ll even unlock in-game kart and character customizations as you progress so you can express your own style within the game.
Additional games, systems and karts required for multiplayer mode. Systems and karts sold separately. Game download required and available as free download on Nintendo eShop. Nintendo Switch Lite plays all games that support handheld mode. Custom course materials not included.
