What We're Shopping For In September 2025

It may only be September, but as parents, we know we need to start planning for the rainy days ahead—and dare I say it, even the holidays. This month's picks combine practicality, style and fun. Because even when we're buying rain gear, it should spark a little joy.

As always, while we genuinely love everything we recommend, a few of these items were gifted.

Mernini The Mini Raincoat

Canadian raincoat brand Mernini has launched a mini version of their namesake 48" jacket for grown-ups. While more on the luxury end price-wise, if you have multiple kids, this can be passed down to, it might just be a worthwhile investment. It features a magnetic closure and built-in water-resistant wrist warmers. Plus, it's roomy enough to layer on chilly days.

Declathlon Quechua Kids’ Waterproof Winter Boots

Decathlon Quecha Kids’ Waterproof Winter Boots

I've got my eye on these waterproof boots for both my kids. With sneaker styling and easy-to-secure velcro closure, I think these could be the perfect footwear from October through April. I like shopping at Decathlon for kids' sports must-haves. It's great for soccer cleats, goggles, swim towels and indoor gym shoes for school.

LEGO Advent Calendars

LEGO Minecraft Advent Calendar 2025 box featuring a snowy holiday village scene with festive Minecraft characters and creatures, containing 300 pieces and 24 daily gifts.

Too soon to start thinking about the holidays? Maybe. But kids love Advent calendars, and they can be hard to come by in December. In the past, I've gotten my kids chocolate calendars and wrapped up LEGO Advents for Christmas Eve gifts. I'm telling you, there is nothing better than opening every box in one day.

skinbetter Science Even Intensive Skin Tone Correcting Serum

Sleek rose-gold bottle of Skinbetter Science Even Tone Correcting Serum, a 50 ml skincare product designed to reduce the appearance of uneven skin tone.

This lightweight serum treats dark spots and dullness. I've been using it for a couple of weeks and already see a difference in the melasma I get every summer. The best part? It doesn't irritate my skin and is gentle enough to use along with other active ingredients. The brand even recommends using AlphaRet Overnight Cream, a nightly retinol product.

Zipstring Aracna

ZipString lets kids do mesmerizing tricks using physics. They can launch a neon or even glowing string into a floating loop in the air. And the TikTok-famous company has released a second model on Kickstarter for fans of a certain web-slinging superhero. The new model is worn on the wrist, and the cord automatically retracts back into its holster.
