Homemade pizza sauce

Skip the store-bought stuff and whip up your own tasty red sauce. Spread it over naan and cover with your family's favourite toppings.


Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 156-mL can tomato paste
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/4 tsp granulated sugar , (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Add onion and garlic powders and cook, 1 min. Add tomato paste and stir, 1 min. Reduce heat to medium-low. Add 3/4 cup water, oregano, basil, sugar (if desired) and salt. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until sauce reduces to 1 cup, about 10 min. Let cool.
