Fruit and nut steel-cut oats

  • 2 cups steel-cut oats

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 8 cups water

  • 1 cup milk

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar

  • 1 cup chopped pitted dates

  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries

  • 1/2 cup toasted sunflower seeds, or chopped walnut (optional)

Protein 14g, Carbohydrates 88g, Fat 11g, Fibre 9g, Sodium 423mg.

  1. COMBINE oats with salt, cinnamon and nutmeg in slow cooker insert. Stir in water. Cover and cook for 8 hours on low.
  2. STIR in milk, sugar, dates and cranberries. Scoop into bowls and sprinkle with seeds or walnuts.
