Blackberry Soda Syrup

1 cup syrup

Impress everyone with this easy-to-prepare homemade soda syrup.
Ingredients
- 5 cups blackberries
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- black gel food colouring , optional
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium.
- Gently simmer, stirring occasionally, until mixture turns syrupy, 25 to 30 min. Remove from heat. Cool, then strain. Stir in black gel food colouring until desired colour, if using.
- To serve, pour syrup into a glass pitcher or bottle with ice, then add soda water to taste
