Impress everyone with this easy-to-prepare homemade soda syrup.
5 cups blackberries
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
black gel food colouring, optional
In a large saucepan, combine blackberries, sugar and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium.
Gently simmer, stirring occasionally, until mixture turns syrupy, 25 to 30 min. Remove from heat. Cool, then strain. Stir in black gel food colouring until desired colour, if using.
To serve, pour syrup into a glass pitcher or bottle with ice, then add soda water to taste
