Layered lentil and rice soup

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp chicken bouillon

  • 1/3 cup uncooked converted rice

  • 1/3 cup red lentils

  • 1 tbsp dried parsley

  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper

  • 1 tsp savoury

  • 1/3 cup uncooked converted rice

  • 1/3 cup green lentils

FOR PREP:

  • 2 tsp butter, or margarine

  • 8 cups water

Instructions

  • Pour the ingredients in the order given into a 2 cup Mason jar, and screw on the lid.

  • When ready to make the soup, bring the butter and water to a boil in a large pot. Pour in the contents of the jar and add and veggies you wish, or make it as is without additions.

  • Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer until the lentils are tender (about 25 minutes).
