Whole Wheat Maple Snickerdoodles
How can you not love something called a snickerdoodle? Just saying the name puts a person in a good mood. And eating the cookie is even better.
- 2 2/3 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup butter
- 2/3 cup maple syrup
- 2 eggs
- granulated sugar , for rolling cookies
- In a mixing bowl, have your child stir together the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and cinnamon.
- Here comes the fun part. First dump some sugar into a flattish bowl or pie plate. Now, by hand, form the dough into 1 in. (2 cm) balls and roll the balls in the granulated sugar until coated all over. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving a little room between for expansion. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 8 to 10 minutes, until lightly browned on bottom, but still soft to the touch.
