Warm Blueberry Sauce

  • Makes1 1/2 to 2 cups
Warm Blueberry Sauce

Make this blueberry sauce the night before and reheat it in the microwave when you want to serve it.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup water

  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 2 cups blueberries, (fresh, or thawed frozen)

Thickener

  • 2 tsp cornstarch

  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, combine the 1/4 cup (50 mL) water, sugar and lemon juice. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring, just until the sugar is dissolved. Stir in the blueberries and let the mixture simmer for 2 or 3 minutes, until the blueberries are softened.

  • In a small bowl, stir together the cornstarch with 1 tbsp. (15 mL) water. Add this mixture to the blueberries and cook, stirring, until the sauce thickens. Let cool slightly before serving.
