Big batch fruity oatmeal

Ingredients

  • 6 cups water
  • 2 peeled and grated pears
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 cups regular oats , or steel cut oats

Instructions

  • In a large pot, combine 6 cups water, 2 peeled and grated pears and 1/2 tsp each salt and cinnamon.
  • Bring to a boil over high heat; add 1 1/2 cups regular oats or steel-cut, and stir to combine. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring constantly for the last few minutes, or until oats are tenderm and liquid looks creamy and starchy.
  • Serve warm with cream, milk or yogurt, plus favourite toppings like sliced bananas, blueberries or toasted almonds, and a drizzle of maple syrup. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
