6 cups water
2 peeled and grated pears
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cups regular oats, or steel cut oats
In a large pot, combine 6 cups water, 2 peeled and grated pears and 1/2 tsp each salt and cinnamon.
Bring to a boil over high heat; add 1 1/2 cups regular oats or steel-cut, and stir to combine. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring constantly for the last few minutes, or until oats are tenderm and liquid looks creamy and starchy.
Serve warm with cream, milk or yogurt, plus favourite toppings like sliced bananas, blueberries or toasted almonds, and a drizzle of maple syrup. Cover and refrigerate leftovers.
