Ready. Set. Build! Creating a structure with blocks quickly before your opponent builds theirs is what fuels the fun of Goliath Games’ Build or Boom game. This two-player game has kids build one of the variety of structures outlined on its 30 blueprint cards in a race against a single opponent. Speedy thinking and motor skills are important, as the fastest builder gets to use their “boomer” to tumble their opponent’s structure. The game comes with a variety of building blocks and objects, and easy-to-follow instructions. Set-up is quick and straightforward, though a preschooler would likely require some help getting the game going. Testers said the game was lots of fun with its creative and engaging construction challenges. In some cases, parents had to help with emotional management as kids got upset seeing their creations collapse—something to keep in mind for younger kids especially. Our clever parent testers found a compromise by playing with their children, or playing the game informally to simply enjoy its structure building aspect, making it lots of fun for all involved.
