As a breastfeeding mom, nursing pillows are my best friends. They help me keep my carpal tunnel in check and prop my baby up so she can feed at just the right angle—often up to eight times a day. So I was intrigued when I heard about the Peekaboo Pillow.
The Peekaboo Pillow is wedge-shaped and props your baby up for breastfeeding, bottle feeding and pace feeding. Great for face-to-face time, it's especially helpful after a C-section as it cushions your baby's weight on your lap. Handmade in the U.S.A. from 100 percent cotton, it has two loops for pacifiers or toys and two pockets for essentials. A mini ledge at the bottom is comfortable for the baby to sit on (supported by an adult, of course).
The Peekaboo Pillow Original and Peekaboo Pillow Deluxe nursing pillows look similar, but they have one difference. The Peekaboo Pillow Original has two pockets and two toy or pacifier loops. The Peekaboo Pillow Deluxe only has one.
They are both 20 inches by 20 inches by 16 inches and weigh about 4 pounds. Both are made in the U.S.A. from high-quality soft cotton fabric and are compatible with Peekaboo Pillow's covers.
When I first got the Peekaboo Pillow, I wasn't sure what to think—all my nursing pillows are flat. But after playing around with the wedge shape, I realized how nice it felt under my arm when breastfeeding my baby. It helped prop me up and reduce my carpal tunnel pain. I love the Peekaboo Pillow for the pockets and paci loops, too.
My husband tried the pillow said, "Wow, this is comfortable." I explained that it was invented by a dad as the perfect prop pillow for having comfortable face-to-face time with the baby.
My in-laws are getting older and it helps them properly support our baby while looking at her. And it prevents me from fussing about how they're holding her neck. The Peekaboo Pillow also makes tummy time more pleasant for babies who hate being on a flat surface.
My one complaint is that it is spot clean only, and if you have a reflux-y baby like I do, this can be hard to manage. I didn't want to treat the pillow like it was precious. Peekaboo Pillow does have covers you can purchase, but they add to the overall cost of the pillow.
I highly recommend the Peekaboo Pillow to anyone who needs an alternative to traditional flat breastfeeding or nursing pillows or for family members who want a better way to prop up and have real quality time with a newborn.
The Peekaboo Pillow is great. I give it an 8 out of 10. Comfortable, easy to use and soft, it helps me prop my baby in the correct feeding position.
I can see how a baby with reflux would enjoy being sat up on such a comfortable surface after a feed, but I was concerned that the actual pillow is spot-clean only. While pricier than most other nursing pillows, but its functionality can justify its price.
You can buy the Peekaboo Pillow on Amazon or at peekaboopillow.com.
