From sippy cup dribbles and car seat spills to finger-painted walls, life with kids gets messy. Paper towels can be a real life-saver when it comes to cleaning up, and Bounty Select-a-Size Paper Towels is one of our favourites. This premium brand features extra-thick towels with select-a-size perforations so you can grab just what you need. Tested in both our lab and in family homes, we found this brand super strong and absorbent, with parent testers appreciating the way they held up against the toughest messes.
No parent needs paper towel ripping halfway through cleanup, or disintegrating on the way to the compost bin, saucy spills in hand. To test paper towel strength in our lab, we had one person hold a wet sheet while another placed quarters on top. Bounty Select-a-Size Paper Towels held an astonishing 89 quarters before tearing. Our parent testers were also happy with the strength of these paper towels, with all agreeing it was easy to clean up big messes and scrub surfaces before these towels wore out. Back in our lab, a greasy spill was completely cleaned up after just one wipe. And in terms of durability, a wet towel took at six passes on carpet before small bits of paper started shredding off, and it lasted 21 wipes before it tore.
When testing absorbency, our editors found two select-a-size sheets (equivalent in size to one typical full-size sheet) held about 5½ teaspoons of water without dripping. To mop up a half-cup mess, it took eight select-a-size sheets. This might sound like a lot, but it isn’t—Bounty Select-a-Size was one of the most absorbent paper towels we tested. In everyday use, the majority of testers were also happy with how much these towels could hold—even oil and grease—and they especially liked that they could choose a smaller or larger sheet depending on the size of the spill.
Using paper towel is pretty self-explanatory, but we all know the mad scramble of trying to rip off a few sheets mid-spill, only to have the whole roll unfurl. In our lab we put a roll of Bounty Select-a-Size Paper Towels on an upright holder, and our editors found it easy to cleanly rip the product along the perforated line, although doing so one-handed resulted in two select-a-size sheets coming away from the roll rather than one. Our parent testers were split on how easy it was to get the desired number of sheets with one hand—some said it was very easy while others felt it was somewhat easy. However, when using two hands, all our parents agreed that getting one or multiple sheets was a breeze.
Across the board, our editors and parent testers found Bounty Select-a-Size Paper Towels to be a high-quality product that offered excellent absorbency and strength. Several testers noted that the towels felt thicker and more durable than brands they usually buy. While some testers noted that these paper towels generally cost more than other brands, most felt that they offered above-average value given that they're very absorbent and durable—some parents even noted that they hold up to being rinsed and reused on some messes. Parents also appreciated the ability to tear off a smaller or large sheet as needed, so waste was minimized. All things considered, the majority of our parent testers said they'd buy Bounty Select-a-Size Paper Towels and would recommend them to other families, and our editors heartily agree.
