If you’re looking for an easy-to-clean glass bottle with a simple anti-colic venting system, the Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle made our list of bottles to try. The glass bottle is manufactured in the United States, and it's easy to assemble and take apart. With its simple four-piece construction (bottle, nipple, collar and travel cap), you won’t be playing hide-and-seek when you need to prep a bottle stat.
The two main concerns many parents have with glass bottles are weight and breakage. All of our parent testers felt that the bottle was comfortable to hold and that they had a good grip on the bottle while they fed their child. To test the strength of the glass bottles, we dropped each one from counter height five times, assessing for damage after each drop. The Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle passed with flying colours, with no scratches or cracks at all. And the travel cap stayed on four out of five times.
The anti-colic nipple is wide and soft, thanks to the unique petal design on the inside of the nipple. The petals lend the nipple its softness, but also prevent nipple collapse. None of our parent testers had any issues with the nipple collapsing or inverting while they were feeding their babies. The anti-colic twin valve venting system is built into the nipple and designed to vent air into the bottle, not your baby’s tummy, which should reduce gas, burping and spit up. One of our parent testers noticed that her baby spit up less frequently both during and after feeding, and she saw an improvement in her baby’s colic.
Available in six different flow rates, you’ll be able to find a nipple that keeps your baby happy. All of our parent testers agreed that the nipple flow rate suggested for their baby’s age seemed right for their little one and non reported any leaking while they were feeding their babies.
No one wants a bottle that leaks when you're on the go, so we carried a full bottle around in a diaper bag for 30 minutes to see if any liquid would escape. The Philips Avent Glass Bottle didn't leak at all.
With a nice wide neck, adding powder formula to the Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle was simple and mess-free. The volume markers, clearly printed on the side of the bottle in a soft grey, are easy to read. And we found that the bottle easily warmed in a standard bottle warmer.
With only four pieces, the Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle keeps assembly and cleaning simple. The wider neck means you can easily clean inside the bottle with a dish sponge. To test the silicone nipple for staining, we let it soak overnight in a sink of soapy water with a little spaghetti sauce added. While the nipple was slightly stained after hand-washing, a trip through the dishwasher had it looking like new.
All of our parent testers agreed that the bottle offers good value, quality and ease of use. Simply designed and sturdily built, the Philips Avent Natural Glass Baby Bottle is a good option if you’re looking for a well-priced glass baby bottle with a built-in venting system.
