The most stylish stroller on the market is more than meets the eye—it's also ruggedly built, easy to maneuver and highly customizable.
As someone who prioritizes aesthetics, I saw the Cybex Priam stroller before getting pregnant and knew I had to have it for my future child. It turns out that I absolutely love this stroller, beyond its style appeal. The Cybex Priam offers some of the most unique design features on the market, the basket is generously sized, and maneuvers perfectly—even on the disastrous sidewalks of Los Angeles. While it comes with a luxury price tag, it’s absolutely worth every penny.
I have the Cybex stroller in Pale Blush, part of the Simply Flowers collection, which is arguably the most beautifully designed seat cover and bassinet out there. This is no exaggeration—the durable, bright pink fabric is accented by shiny pink flower appliqués on the hood of the bassinet. There’s also a jacquard floral pattern stitched into the seat. I rarely go for a walk with my daughter, Carlin, without receiving compliments on this stroller.
I’ve had women in their 20s who aren’t even married approach me because they want it for their future child. Tourists come up to me asking to take photos and show me the website where it was purchased because they don’t speak fluent English. Many assume it’s custom-made because there’s nothing comparable even available. While all of this might sound hyperbolic, I assure you it isn’t. This stroller turns heads and stops traffic.
For those who may not love this bold aesthetic (or the attention it attracts), the brand offers plenty of other Cybex Priam styles, ranging from minimalistic solids to designer and celebrity collaborations. Regardless of the style, this versatile yet sturdy stroller is ideal for just about anywhere. My Cybex Priam review will tell you everything you need to know about this luxury stroller.
The Cybex Priam stroller is a premium travel system that has a standard seat, a bassinet for babies up to six months old, and a Cybex car seat, all of which are sold individually. The reversible seat makes it suitable for newborns and older kids. The all-terrain wheels handle everything from city streets to dirt roads and hills with ease.
Keep in mind that the Cybex Priam is not a compact travel stroller—I also have a Doona travel system for that purpose, but the larger Cybex makes far more sense for everyday use.
The brand calls this stroller a “design icon on wheels” for good reason. The design options are simply unparalleled. There are so many fantastic seat covers, car seats and bassinet styles to choose from that it’s almost hard to decide. There are currently four frame colours, including rose gold (which I have), chrome with black details, chrome with brown details and matte black.
The real fun is choosing your seat and bassinet style. There are currently more than twelve styles to choose from, spread out among several collections. The Comfort Collection features solids like black, off-white and peach pink. The Fashion Collection features Pale Blush, which is the one I have, as well as a Nude Beige with the same flower appliqués along with some other fun prints. If you go by celebrity endorsements, there are also bassinet and seat covers created by Jeremy Scott and DJ Khalid.
Cybex Priam seats are reversible, so your child can face you or see the world—it’s your choice. While even the base models come at a premium price, it’s a true one-and-done system you can use from the newborn stage up to 55 pounds. And if the Priam is a little out of your budget, you can skip the bassinet and use a compatible car seat instead. However, the bassinet is very comfortable, and you could easily use it for overnights at a grandparent’s house.
The storage capacity of the Cybex Priam is impressive. I can easily fit two grocery bags underneath, a diaper bag and a 30-ounce Stanley cup. Even heavy items like milk don’t seem to weigh this stroller down. The Cybex Priam is very comfortable for my toddler to ride in, as well. The seat is ergonomic and adjustable, and the large UPF 50 canopy keeps the sun out of her sensitive eyes. The five-point safety harness keeps Carlin secure yet and is really easy to use, so getting her in and out of it is a breeze.
One thing that makes the Priam worthwhile is that it's compatible with a variety of car seats, including the Cybex Cloud Q, Cloud G, Cloud G Lux and Aton series, as well as the Clek Liing. While you can pair the stroller with other brands, Cybex does not recommend it.
Swapping out the car seat is incredibly easy since it snaps right in. You can do it in under five seconds once you get the hang of it. Simply press the buttons and lift to remove the car seat, then slide it back in to attach it. Once you hear a click, it’s secure—the process is truly seamless. The adapters for the bassinet and seat are attached to your Priam, so there’s virtually no risk of losing or misplacing them.
The Cybex Priam has a variety of accessories that can be purchased from Cybex, Babylist, Amazon and most major stroller retailers. There are fifteen different accessories compatible with the Priam ranging from essential to useful to extremely niche.
Basics include a rain cover, cup holder and two different footmuffs. A snack tray is ideal for older kids to eat on the go. Cybex also offers several stylish stroller bags, including two designed by Jeremy Scott and another by DJ Khalid. There’s also a plain black bag with a changing mat for those who want a more minimalist look.
An attachable skateboard is great for letting older kids ride along, especially if you’re past the double stroller phase, but still need to take along older kids on occasion. One of the most unique accessories available is the skis, which can replace the wheels, turning your stroller into a snowmobile. While I can’t see this being useful for most people, I imagine it being very fun and practical for parents who experience heavy snowfall in their area.
I’ve had my Cybex Priam for a year and a half, and it's incredibly comfortable to use as a parent on just about any terrain. I navigate my stroller on the terribly paved sidewalks of Los Angeles with ease. From cracked streets to sidewalks without ramps, this Cybex stroller can conquer it all.
One of my favourite things to do is to take a walk around the Silver Lake Reservoir, which is essentially a large dirt trail with plenty of hills. Don’t let the aesthetic fool you—the Priam is quite rugged. I can even run down one of the larger hills, and Carlin stays safe and secure. While it’s not a jogging stroller, it performs fantastically when you want to pick up the pace, thanks to the sturdy frame and large wheels.
While the Cybex stroller is not compact (it's a bit like a traditional carriage that way), it navigates crowded and tight spaces well because it’s easy to manoeuvre and control. So, it’s ideal for places like the supermarket and malls. While I wouldn’t recommend this stroller for a subcompact car, it fits in the front seat of my Fiat convertible. Folded over, it fits most standard-sized cars.
Collapsing the Priam is super easy, too. You just pull a lever, flip over the seat, push down the bar and fold it up. While it took a few tries to get used to, it’s easy once you get the hang of it.
If you want a stroller with an undeniably chic aesthetic that’s super durable and practical for urban walking and travelling, you’ll be very happy with the Cybex Priam. And while it’s certainly an investment, it easily grows with your first child and, more likely than not, your next. This versatile stroller is a fantastic choice as a primary stroller for families who appreciate quality and want a sturdy model they can take nearly anywhere.
