Charmspring Springboard Review: A Visual Organizer and Routine Builder for Families

charmspring.com

Bedtime and morning routines are an essential part of family life. They keep the ship running and are important in teaching kids responsibility, helping them build confidence and encouraging them to be independent. As parents know, getting kids to stick to a routine can feel nearly impossible, especially at an early age. With the added busyness of family life, it can be downright chaotic to get kids to focus on everything from homework to brushing their teeth.

In all fairness, it can be hard for little kids to understand the order in which things should go. A visual organizer can help get a small child through their routine.  Enter the Charmspring Springboard, a visual task management tool for parents and kids. It can help little ones stay organized, know the order of steps in their routine and give them a sense of accomplishment once tasks are completed.

Aesthetically pleasing, fully modular, customizable and easy to understand and use, the Charmspring Springboard is a great family tool for getting toddlers and school-aged kids into their grooves—helping everyone get out the door faster or get to bed faster. If you're looking for a family organization tool that is stylish, functional and can grow with your child, check out this Charmspring Springboard review.

What is the Charmspring Springboard?

Charmspring Springboards are modular routine boards that help small children visualize their routines. They feature daily or weekly schedules and are fully customized to a child's routine. They help foster a child's independence, providing a sense of authority and confidence. They can also encourage emotional security, learning skills and transitions to minimize frustration around a routine.

There are two Springboard styles, large and small. The large board has a seven-day overview with 68 included magnetic tiles that map out a family's weekly routine in full. The smaller board is focused on specific morning or nighttime routines or both and can also be used as a checklist.

Each board comes with tiles, but there are over 150 tile options to choose from for a family's individual celebrations, routines and life. You can add tiles such as "Dad's house," "clean up toys" or "floss." There are also blank tiles that you can write on with a dry-erase marker. Made for kids ages 12 months to 12 years, the boards come with a custom nameplate to position at the top. Parents can choose the font, board colour and more.

Charmspring Springboards are not only beautiful but they're also backed by science. Each tile is age-specific, created in consultation with developmental psychologists and early childhood educators to match a child's developmental stage.

Key features and functionality

Customizable and modular design

These visual organizers have a unique modular system that's fully customizable online to a child's routine, needs and even colour preferences. They come with magnetic illustrated activity tiles that can help younger kids (including non-readers) figure out what comes next in a routine. The tiles can be moved around and swapped out as a child develops and their routine or needs change.

You can fully customize a Springboard or select a Starter Pack by age. They're available for toddlers, preschoolers and school-aged children with common activities shared across each age group. The tiles represent everything from brushing teeth to gymnastics class to trips to the farmer's market.

User-friendly setup

Charmspring Springboards are easy to set up. Each board comes beautifully packaged in a custom protective box with the accompanying tiles provided in a small pouch. Unlike other family organizers, like the Hearth Display, Charmspring involves no tech components and is incredibly easy to use. Children and parents can start assembling routines straight out of the box.

Durability and style

Charmspring Springboards contain eco-friendly beechwood and BPA-free acrylic, while the magnets are made of sturdy stainless steel. They're expertly crafted to withstand repeated use, even rough handling by toddlers.

The Springboards are as beautiful to look at as they are functional. Slightly rounded corners, custom colours, interesting fonts and tiles make them an organizational showpiece. They're a nice option to display anywhere in the home, whether in a child's room, hallway, entryway, mudroom, kitchen or other central area.

Real-world testing: How does it perform?

Our Charmspring Springboard arrived in a large flat box and I was impressed with the overall packaging—the copywriting was cheeky and playful. My daughter immediately began dumping out the tiles and playing with them as if they were a puzzle or game. Together, we set up the small morning and nighttime routine board in about 5 minutes. We had fun spelling out her name on the custom nameplate, then talked about the order in which we do things in the mornings and evenings. We used the included divider tiles to make sure she understood which was which.

I loved how Charmspring provided multiple tiles of common tasks such as "brush teeth," making it easy for us to keep one on the morning routine line and another on the night routine line. What I like even more is that you can flip the board vertically and use the included tiles as a to-do list with the dividers running down the middle. We've got morning routines down, but nighttime is where things come undone. It's nice that she can move the tiles from the "to-do" side to the "done" side.

My daughter still likes to take the tiles apart and play with them like a toy—yet it's a teaching moment each night for us to put them back together in the right order, further hammering home the routine and all its steps. We thoroughly enjoy using the Charmspring Springboard, but I would like to see the ability to customize tiles in the starter packs. We had a few in there that weren't particularly applicable to us, and I would have liked to have picked ones like "ballet" or "library," two activities we engage in regularly.

Benefits of the Charmspring Springboard

Drawbacks to consider

  • Pricier than other visual organizational tools

Final verdict

Families who appreciate customizable, aesthetically pleasing organizational tools will love the Charmspring Springboard. Cleverly designed to look more like decor than an organizer, it's a great analog option for families that prefer screen-free tools. Anyone who struggles with juggling schedules or getting kids on a routine would benefit from having one. While more expensive than other visual family tools, the Charmspring Springboards are fully customizable and can grow with a child for up to 12 years, offering great value overall.
