RECALL: Ground beef may be contaminated with E. coli (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Loblaws "banner" grocery stores are not involved in the recall. Some corporate and franchised stores of Loblaws Companies Limited are. 

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has issued the recall of ground beef products (including burgers, meatballs, etc.) manufactured by Alberta's XL Foods company (Est. 38) because the products may be contaminated with E. coli.

Here are some of the affected brands (Note: Not all stores are affected; it varies among the provinces) Calahoo Meats Kirkland Signature Safeway Ground beef from certain Sobeys, none (Walmart), No Frills, Safeway, Giant Tiger, Reddi Food solutions, Foodland, Metro and other stores, throughout Canada. Dates: Sobeys products: Best before or packaged Aug. 27 to Sept. 17. Foodland: Sept. 2 to Sept. 17. Metro: Sept. 17 to Sept. 20.
