Marcel the Shell with Shoes On is now a book

It can be a bit hard to explain the popularity of Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, the quirky viral video featuring the tiny talking shell, but we suspect it has something to do with its high quotability factor.

Managing Editor Nadine says her kids are obsessed with Marcel the Shell and walk around the house saying "Do you know what I use for skis?" "What?" "Toenails from a man."

My particular favourite is "I'm afraid to drink soda, cause I'm afraid the bubbles will make me float up to the ceiling."

To the delight of anyone who's watched this video (and its sequel) approximately 900 times, its creators, writer-director Dean Fleischer-Camp and writer/actress Jenny Slate (of SNL fame), have turned it into a book: Marcel the Shell with Shoes On: Things About Me. We haven't got our hands on a copy yet, but we anticipate it will be the next most-requested storytime favourite.

Oh, and there's totally a Marcel the Shell iPhone app too.

Does your family like Marcel the Shell? What are your favourites quotes?
