With the new year comes more experiences for little Wes and a sudden close bond between brother.
Anyone who knows Baby Wes can attest to the fact that he loves to eat! He will eat anything and everything, and this morning was no different. He wouldn't stop staring at Will's piece of toast. And when I gave him his own piece, he happily ate away! Thank goodness the baby already has seven teeth to keep up with his appetite! And on another note, I never would have dreamed that I would have two high chairs in my kitchen! Will has no desire to give up his "chair" so this was our only real alternative for now. This set-up allows Mama to have a quiet cup of coffee in the morning while the boys have their breakfast! That's something I don't want to give up yet either!
Photo: Kerianne Brown"Let me out of here, Mommy!...Oh wait, I'm just kidding. I love it here!" And Mommy is happy that he loves it so much, because it is somewhere I can put Baby Wes where I know he won't get into trouble if I have to tend to Will or am busy with something. What I didn't expect is that Will would want to get in there so much, too!
Photo: Kerianne BrownThere are never enough kisses for Mommy. He is sure to grab both my cheeks every time, and it's always a wide open-mouth kiss that he plants right on my lips. I could care less about the drool and the sticky fingers. I could never get enough of Wes' kisses!
Photo: Kerianne BrownWes is trying to be a little beaver and gnawing on his crib rails! I hope that doesn't become a bad habit, especially because he has a mouth full of teeth already!
Photo: Kerianne BrownBaby Wes discovered a special rattle he was given while he was still a newborn in the hospital. It is pretty and a wonderful keepsake, and yet he insists on bashing it around like it is made of plastic! He makes me laugh, that little baby of mine!
Photo: Kerianne BrownBaby Wes is happiest when he has our undivided attention. He would rather have us tickle him or sing him a song than play with any of his toys. Today, Daddy and I had a little fun with him right before his nap.
Photo: Kerianne BrownIt was just Baby Wes and I home today. I tried to get my bedroom organized, but he was into everything! So, I put him up on the bed for a little quiet time together and this is what ensued. At least he tired himself out so that I could grab a snuggle at the end! It always amazes me that my snuggly baby who can sit on my knee for hours, can also be this crazy maniac of a baby when he feels like it!
Photo: Kerianne BrownI always said that there is nothing worse than a baby who gets a hold of the remote control, but there is: A baby brother who gets a hold of the remote control and changes Big Brother's channel on him! Oh, the drama that ensues! Will is upset that his show has gone off the air and Wes is upset that his new toy has been taken away.
Photo: Kerianne BrownSomeone discovered Will's Woody today and was very excited that he was able to play with him uninterrupted. Will isn't very good about sharing his toys with his baby brother yet. We hope it gets better with time!
Photo: Kerianne BrownWill doesn't play with my iPhone very often at all, but there is one little app on there that makes him laugh non-stop. He actually got into the app all by himself today, and Baby Wes had to see what all the laughs were about.
Photo: Kerianne BrownI've discovered that Wes absolutely loves being read to. Will didn't mind books as a baby, but would usually rather play with a car or a truck. So, it's such a pleasant surprise that Wes will sit forever while I read book after book to him!
Photo: Kerianne BrownDaddy and Baby Wes were dancing their hearts out today and our doggie tried to join in on the action!
Photo: Kerianne BrownHe loved playing with his little bead-maze toy today. He was so careful to take each bead one at a time and push it along the wire. I love the concentration on his face!
Photo: Kerianne BrownHe makes a beeline to the dog's food dish every chance he gets these days. I think this face says, "Oops, I've been caught, but please don't be mad at me! I'm too cute!"
Photo: Kerianne BrownHe thought his reflection was the funniest baby he had ever seen before! I couldn't stop laughing, watching him watch himself.
Photo: Kerianne BrownWill wanted nothing to do with a sippy cup as a baby, and yet, Wes can't get enough of his! He absolutely loves drinking out of a big boy cup!
Photo: Kerianne BrownWes got his very own laptop for Christmas. And when the little puppy asks questions of him, Wes is sure to answer with much enthusiasm every time!
Photo: Kerianne BrownSometimes I wonder if these two have their own secret language. When he saw Will coming and broke out into the biggest smile, I knew they probably wanted to plan something naughty.
Photo: Kerianne BrownWhile Wes was playing in his playpen today, Will kept bringing more toys to me asking if I would give them to Baby Wes. I guess he didn't want him to get bored while he was in there! I'm surprised he didn't ask to jump in to play with him!
Photo: Kerianne BrownLook who pulled himself up on the ottoman today! I could hardly believe my eyes! And I don't think Baby Wes could have been more proud of himself.
Photo: Kerianne BrownWes didn't want to close those little eyes of his today for a nap! He's been doing that a lot lately. It seems like he doesn't want to miss a thing and has been having too much fun practising his new tricks that napping has become a low priority.
Photo: Kerianne BrownNothing was going to stop him today from getting to me! He climbed right over his elephant pillow to have a little snuggle with Mama.
Photo: Kerianne BrownWes had his first apple today. He loved it, although he eventually threw it off his tray and watched below to see the doggies trying to run off with it.
Photo: Kerianne BrownOne of Will's favourite rituals…climbing up on a stool to greet Baby Wes when he wakes up from his nap. As soon as he hears him on the monitor, he asks to go in. He says, "Mommy, Baby Wes!"
Photo: Kerianne BrownHe threw his head back and cried. And he did it over and over again as I tried to feed him his yogurt this morning. I knew he was hungry and that he wanted to eat, but couldn't understand why he was being difficult. Then he reached out and grabbed the spoon and continued to feed himself! He was happy and content…and extremely messy!
Photo: Kerianne BrownThere has been a shift in my house: a bonding between two brothers. I don't think I have welled up more than I have in the last several days as I watched this new relationship unfold. Will has very suddenly wanted to hug and kiss Wes often. And Wes has had the biggest smiles and giggles for Will. I hope this is just the beginning of so many more beautiful moments to come.
Photo: Kerianne BrownWill wore this sweater and hat so often when he was a baby two years ago. It warmed my heart to see little brother wearing them today.
Photo: Kerianne BrownCan you spot Wes? I love how he's trying to blend in with all his stuffies. He most definitely is the cuddliest of them all!
Photo: Kerianne BrownThis was his reaction when I asked him if he was ready for a nap. This little guy cracks himself up so often…especially if he has an audience!
Photo: Kerianne BrownWe are getting so good at standing that we can now hold on with just one hand and then reach for a toy with the other. He is one brave little boy!
Photo: Kerianne BrownWes loved watching the light snowfall out the window today. It was so mesmerizing, and he stared out that window for the longest time!
