"My dad has always been my buddy. He was always around to get down on the ground and play with my sister and I when we were kids. As I got older we bonded over our shared passion for hockey and great TV dramas. I feel lucky to have such a strong relationship with my dad." ~ Laura Grande, Todaysparent.com Editorial Coordinator
“My dad is the most hardworking person I know, and does it only to make sure we have everything we could ever want. His family is his number one priority and he’s always there when we need him, be it for silly questions or advice on tough decisions. He’s my motivator, cheerleader, teacher and can always make me laugh, no matter what. I’m lucky to have him.” ~ Cassandre Cadieux, Todaysparent.com Editorial Intern
"I grew up in the country. My dad is an incredibly dependable, intelligent, strong-but-silent type of dad who always put in a lot of hard work behind the scenes at our house: Stacking wood, feeding the woodstove, shoveling snow and scraping off our cars in the morning. As kids, we were expected to work hard, too. Not sure how helpful I was at this age, though!” ~ Today's Parent Senior Editor, Ariel Brewster
"My husband works the night shift in a job outside of his professional field. He makes a lot less money, but this allows him more time to be there for our children. He is able to take our two sons to school in the morning and pick them up after school. He volunteers on the class field trips and takes them to after-school activities. My husband also has an amazing relationship with our two-year-old daughter as well. He will often sit with her and play on the floor or share a snack for half an hour in the morning. He is one of the most amazing dads I know." ~ Tera Grocholski from Airdrie, Alberta
"Even after 13 brain surgeries, this dad can still be found playing and cuddling with his little girls. Not knowing what tomorrow holds and when he will be sick again, he cherishes every moment and memory he can make for his little girls to hold in their hearts of their time together." ~ Trish Foster from Bradford, Ontario
"Seven years ago, when my three-year-old son asked me if he could call Mark "Daddy", I knew that this was something special; not only to me, but to my little guy, Bracken, who so desperately needed a father figure. Mark and I began trying to conceive over four years ago, and on April 4th, Raiden was born. Mark is everything "Dad" encompasses — a provider, dedicated, protective, wise, humble, stoic and genuinely a Dad we love." ~ Andria Police from Delta, British Columbia
"I have the best daddy, because he always plays games like peek-a-boo with me, and sings me songs (even though it doesn't sound very good). He is the best daddy, because he loves me so much." ~ Nicolas Lavergne (age 9 months) with Daddy, Eric. Written by Mommy Jessica Leclaire from Maple Ridge, British Columbia
"My husband is special because he didn't faint or get light-headed during the birth of our two kids. He's gotten into shape so he could live long and watch his daughters grow up." ~ Cecilia Charm from Toronto, Ontario
"Kori is an amazing father because he's been there since the beginning and puts his family first. He makes sacrifices for his family. He'll give up sleep to attend to our son, and he has the best interests of others at heart while always looking out for his family." ~ Samantha Francis from Kingston, Ontario
"Every morning Barry leaves a funny note for me to read for our daughter. One of his goals is to establish a close relationship with her. I’m saving them so that Gabrielle can see how hard her Daddy tried to be the first boy to win her heart." ~ Kristina Elen from Brampton, Ontario
"It's hard to capture how great a dad my husband is to our son, Alesandro. Our son just adores his 'best friend.' But if i had to describe him, it would be: Frank lives in the moment, loves with all his heart and laughs wholeheartedly! He's a wonderful, giving, patient, loving dad and husband. Our hero, you make us so happy!" ~ Lak Delgado
"His daughter is his world. He plays an equal role in all her daily routines, is a student and works full-time so that I am able to care for her. He is such a selfless man and we are so lucky to have him in our lives!" ~ Ashley Waters from Harrow, Ontario
"Jonathan has the BEST daddy in the world! My brother is fighting in court to have his son in his life. The love and bond they share is beautiful and can never be broken. This is one of many reasons why THIS dad is very special." ~ Avril Kelly from Toronto, Ontario
"I believe my husband, Conan Doyle, is an incredibly dedicated and involved father. We’re the proud parents of three-year-old Emma. Aside from working, Conan fetches her from school daily, cooks her meals, plays with her, bakes with her …you name it. I realize I’m an incredibly lucky woman to have such a man has my husband. It’s a privilege to share the joy and responsibilities of parenting with him. I love him!" ~ Tessa van Staden from Western Cape
"The reason I think my Pops is so special is that for 45 years he has been there. Since I was a little girl he has supported me, been present in my life, has been my ROCK. He listens, he understands, he takes the time to encourage and love me for who I am. ~ Michele Shephard from Toronto, Ontario
"This dad is special because his little girl says so!" ~ Shayna Murray from Regina, Saskatchewan
"One of the best, most outgoing, most loving, very funny, true TLC-giving dads of all time. He would do anything for his son and baby-in-the-oven. He's really protective towards his family and I guarantee he would do anything for us." ~ Edith Madrigal from Fresno, California, USA
"He's a great father because, not only does he discipline accordingly and demonstrate love by affection, but also because he fills our children's lives with culture. This is a photo of him with our son and daughter." ~ Rosa M. Marmolejo from Fresno, California, USA
"Greg has been a part-time bus driver and stay-at-home dad for five years. He puts all his extra time into the girls' school doing Nutrition for Learning, Parent Council, and volunteering at our church. He would give you the shirt off his back if you asked him." ~ Annamae Elliott from Elmira, Ontario
"Before going away on business, my husband, Conrad, creates and saves video clips on our home computer of himself singing songs like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Five Little Monkeys so that our children, Ethan and Cayla, can see and hear daddy any time of the day or night." ~ Eleanor Rosario from Markham, Ontario
"Glen was 40 when our first child, Ty, was born in 2006 and 43 when our daughter, Irelyn, arrived in 2009. We didn't know what to expect as it was later in our life before God blessed us with our two little darlings after trying for five years. However, like every aspect of Glen’s life he rose to the challenge and he is a terrific dad. I believe the best thing a dad can give his children is his time and for that reason I think Glen is an awesome dad. He takes the time to explain the answers to the 100 questions that are asked of him daily by inquiring little minds and he’s a great soccer dad with words of encouragement and praise. Glen is also an outdoors, walking-in-the-woods type of person and he teaches our kids that nature is beautiful and we should respect it." ~ Nancy Acreman from Corner Brook, Newfoundland
"My dad made sure to tell me every single day how beautiful I was, even when I didn't always agree. Even though I am 28 now, he still makes sure to remind me!" ~ Caelin Webber from North Sydney, Nova Scotia
"Jeff is the dad to two girls, Pearl Jam and Olive. He is a get-down-on-the-carpet-and-play kind of dad. He is teaching Pearl golf. Jeff even talks baby-talk. He plays hard and loves even harder!" ~ Jeff Cybulski from Waterloo, Ontario
"His parents divorced when he was very little and he didn’t have his dad around a lot. Despite not having an example to emulate we have four kids and he is an amazing dad! He runs his own business and still makes sure he gets plenty of one-on-one “dates” with the kids. He reads to them, plays baseball in the backyard, organizes pool parties and water fights, and so much more! The kids all love and adore their daddy and I love him even more for it! I was really sick a few weeks ago with the flu and he took care of lunches and baths, meals, running them to birthday parties and all the other things that needed to be done. I am so grateful for him." ~ Taneill Selinger
"I don't think there is enough words to express why I think Bryan is so special, but knowing how much he does for his kids and family would make anyone's heart melt. He's one of those hands-on dads who was always there to change diapers, do middle-of-the-night feedings, play dress-up or dolls or have a roll in the grass with his girls. The time and love he puts into his three princesses and how he knows all the little details that make them so different. He's a hard-working plant manager, who loves to play hockey in the winter and wear a kilt to compete in the Highland Games in the summer, but most of all he is a daddy to three beautiful girls and it's his family who comes first. Hands down, the best dad around." ~ Michelle MacLean from Sackville, New Brunswick
"He's my husband and the father of our 16-month-old daughter. He's a great dad, loads of fun and great at finding adventures for our family. I love that he's a crunchy dad and loves to carry our daughter in a baby carrier or on his shoulders during all our hikes, even across Europe! Here he is with her on one of our weekend trips to the Columbia Icefields!" ~ Emily Bickell from Calgary, Alberta
"Colin is a wonderful father because he has always gone above and beyond for his son. He gets down on the floor and plays with him, even after working long hours. He works hard to provide for his family. His son looks up to him and admires his father so much." ~ Carolyn

"I cannot tell you just one reason I believe [my] is so special. Everything about Eric is a good example to our children Soleil (5) and Nico (2). He is kind, generous, understanding, playful, humble, intelligent, artistic, funny, etc …but the greatest gift of all is how much he loves me. Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there!" ~ Crystal Rockburn from London, Ontario
"This is my wonderful fiance, Trevor, and the father of our two children, Peyton 4 and Wyatt, 2. He is the best partner and father anyone could ever ask for! We have been together for eight years now and I love him so very much." ~ Cheryl Derbyshire
"Dad is special all year long. He climbs up and down the hills to go tobogganing, he plants tomatoes and green peppers for us to grow, he takes me camping, he piles the leaves really high so I can jump into them. He is the BEST dad in the world ‘cause he's my dad." ~ Ryland Hodgins (son) and mom, May Lopez, from Toronto, Ontario

The joy on both of their faces when they're playing together melts my heart and shows the amazing love between father and daughter." ~ Rachelle Borries from Abbotsford, British Columbia
This is my husband Scottie with our three children. Up until we met last spring, my son and daughter had never had a dad. Ever. This year, not only do they finally have the dad they've always dreamed of, but they also have a new baby brother! My husband has stepped up in ways I never thought possible, and I'm so grateful." ~ Rachel Polite from Ottawa, Ontario
"He works seven days a week so I can stay home with our kids. When he's home, he plays, sings and dances with them. He loves them more than anything in the world. He's a wonderful father and I'm a lucky woman that he's the father of my kids." ~ Gen
"My husband works out of town. When he's home on his days off our son will not leave his side. They do everything together, it is beyond words. I have the greatest daddy in my sons' life." ~ Rhonda Burden
"He is very special because, after only meeting for a week, we went out on our first date and we were in a head-on collision. I spent the next year in rehab and in a wheelchair. I was unable to work. He moved in to help me out and we ended up continuing our relationship. He is just very special and helps me out all the time due to my injuries. I have five kids and we have a handful during holidays and he is there to help out." ~ Laurel Keating from Lumby, British Columbia
"My dad is amazing because he works so hard yet is 100 percent involved. While working in another country he still stays in constant contact with all of us and is always sure to be home for any important event. He is willing to go without so that his family can have all they need. He is a wonderful, loving, compassionate man!" ~ Jamie Kambeitz from Wildhorse, Alberta
"Marc is special because of all the work he does around the house and how he solves problems that make me anxious so calmly. He's a great soccer coach, a great dad and a loving husband." ~ Lee-Ann Baldwin from Winnipeg, Manitoba
"This dad is so special because he is always there for his girls. Even if he has had very little sleep from his two jobs he still takes his girls to their piano lessons, to swimming or just a day out to Chuck E. Cheese. He makes sure that his girls are happy and well taken care of and we love him for that!" ~ Jasmeen Munif from Surrey, British Columbia
"My husband and I met a few months after my first husband`s suicide at home. He helped raise my two boys as if they were his own. He was so wonderful with them that I decided he needed to experience fatherhood himself right from the beginning so we had another child and he is the sweetest, most kind little soul ever! There are not many men out there that could handle how destroyed my children were but he did and did it well. He is an exceptional man and father." ~ Jeannette Laframboise from Espanola, Ontario
"Wayne is a great father to our two girls, Joelle, 5, and Kareena, 3. I work evenings so he puts them to bed weeknights. He taught our daughter to read when she was four years old. We are so lucky to have him." ~ Jayda Turner from Brampton, Ontario
"He always has time to play with our children and be a big kid. He worked very hard last year by going to school and is still working close to fulltime hours to help provide for our three children. He always puts his family first before himself." ~ Amanda Landry from Brantford, Ontario
"He is the best dad in the whole wide world because my son thinks so! There is nothing better in this world than seeing this growing relationship between my son and my partner. I find it truly delightful to capture these small moments (this picture is one such example) that remind me now — and will remind my son in the future — of how great his dad is!" ~ Prathu Suresh from Mississauga, Ontario
"I think he is very special because he works long hours to make ends meet. Even though he is tired, he always makes time to be with the kids and this picture was my son's first birthday just a few days ago. Moments like these are very special to me." ~ Mohaddesa Alarakhia from Richmond Hill, Ontario
"This dad is one in a million. He not only positively influences countless children in his job as a Community Relations Officer with the RCMP but one can't help but be humbled by his commitment to his own three children. He participates in Tae Kwon Do and recreational hockey with our son and youngest daughter, is becoming an officer with our local sea cadet corps to spend more time with our son and other young cadets and he's involved in a local Pipe & Drum band with our son. [He also] faithfully attends our older daughter's swim meets and school functions, as well as ensures he does more than his fair share of household chores. He really is a dream come true!" ~ Tammy Human from Selkirk, Manitoba
"My husband is such a wonderful father! Like many people today we waited to have children and to our great fortune we were blessed with a beautiful, smart little girl named Maegen Rose. My husband, Gary, works long hours but doesn't want to miss a thing in her life. Not only is his day not complete unless he gets her version of how her day went, but he is always looking for ways to spend time with her. Whether it is going to a play, the park or just in the backyard they are always 'giggling' and exploring together. As Maegen puts it, her dad is her 'buddy'." ~ Lori Foreht-Eisler from Toronto, Ontario
"Always there — what a pair, never apart — 55th anniversary! Smile." ~ Barbara Townsend-Batten from Ottawa, Ontario
"My father is a standout dad because he always makes me laugh. He reminds me of Archie Bunker with his silly words and attitude. Sometimes I laugh with him, sometimes I laugh at him but, either way, he always makes me smile." ~ Stephanie LaPlante from Hamilton, Ontario
"We think he is an amazing dad. He is the father of five-year-old twins and has been a hands-on daddy since day one. When the kids were born I didn't let him leave the house for three months! I think he deserves an award for that!" ~ Tina Paquette from Sherwood Park, Alberta
My favourite dad is my husband, Robert. He is ever present in our two children’s lives (Hannah and Hudson). He is always watching at the kids games/lessons (not glued to the Blackberry like some dads). He is the first to suggest a family bike ride instead of just watching sports on TV. He listens to and loves his kid’s everyday in every way. ~ Amy Evans from Guelph, Ontario
"Growing up with just his mom, Christian will celebrate his first Father’s Day in 2012 after welcoming son Julian Amaru last November. So now he can add father to his list of roles — already a son, brother, lover, photographer, storyteller. But just by the way he holds Julian, you’d think he has been playing this part forever." ~ Eva Salinas from Toronto, Ontario
