Stay-at-home moms need time off, too. Here are some clues that you're long overdue.
For stay-at-home moms (SAHM), some days are easy and joyous and some days just making it to bedtime is a struggle.
On those “where-is-my-straightjacket” days, any one of these signs is a clue that you could probably use a break.
If you miraculously get all kids down for their naps at the same time — cue angels singing on the clouds — and your first thought is: “Yes! Uninterrupted laundry and cleaning!”...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
If a friend calls in sick to work and the thought of sleeping on the couch, watching daytime TV and having someone else make you soup — even with the flu — fills you with unadulterated jealousy...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
If you can’t remember the day of the week, realized you just put milk in the cupboard and then got halfway out the door without your baby...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
If it’s 3 PM, you haven’t changed out of your pyjamas and try to convince yourself no one will know the difference because they basically look like yoga pants, right?...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
(And for the record, no they don’t.)
If you look at steam coming off of a plate as some foreign science experiment because, let’s face it, you haven’t eaten food hot since you were pregnant with your first kid...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
If you start the mental countdown to bedtime before your first cup of coffee...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
If an enthusiastic “TGIF!” or “Happy Friday!” thrown your way makes you sneer and roll your eyes because Fridays are as extinct as a shower or sleep-in...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
If you choose your outfit based on what would best hide baby barf on top and baby poop on bottom...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
(Although you’re arguably doing better than number 4, so good for you!)
If you’re hosting a playdate and realize too late that you’re peeing with the door open while keeping the conversation going, because, hey, that’s how you roll now...
YOU NEED A BREAK.
(Share this with all your mom-friends, SAHM or not, who need a break. They’ll get a chance to read it in a month.)
