Craft: How to make a sailboat

Made with foraged materials from the park or yard, plus a few inexpensive items from your craft bin—this sailboat is ready to launch into the kiddie pool or bath.

Materials:

12 to 15 short sticks

camping rope

coloured paper

white glue

scissors

extra decorative items (string, ribbon, etc.)

Plasticine

waterproof sealant (optional)

HOW TO

1 Make a square using four sticks, and glue them into place.

2 Glue sticks across the square to make the base of the boat.

3 Cut a triangle out of paper and afix it to a stick with glue. Set aside to dry.

4 Wedge mast into raft base and secure with Plasticine on the underside.

Add decorations like bunting flags and a life preserver to personalize your boat. Happy sailing!

TIP

Spray the entire boat with an outdoor craft sealant to increase water-resistance. Allow to dry before setting sail.
