5 easy Easter crafts

It’s much more fun to spend on fancy spring Easter outfits than fussy craft supplies, so we’ve pulled together five family friendly Easter activities you can create for almost nothing.

No need to spurge on a floral centrepiece; give the job of creating to your mini Monets! This is a fun and adaptable creation that can be made with leftover paper towel rolls, paint, toddler energy and Easter eggs.

You’re probably decorating and cooking with lots of eggs since it’s Easter…. That means empty egg cartons! Put those cardboard egg cartons to good use by turning them into peeping baby chicks.

Add a few cotton balls, yellow fluffy pompoms and googly eyes and your child can create a mantel full of hatchlings in time for Easter.

All children want to adopt a cute bunny rabbit at Easter and, if you have a recycling bin full of water bottles, a littler of bunnies could happen! Add a few handfuls of cotton balls with glue, and any preschooler will be kept busy creating their own version of the Easter Bunny.

Who knew egg cartons had so many uses? Cardboard egg cups are perfect for these spring flower arrangements. Preschoolers will love to assemble a bouquet with a baby food jar “vase” and playdough.

Instead of colouring eggs why not create a picture of an Easter egg? Practise fine motor skills by inviting your child to cut up a recycled Styrofoam tray into small-ish squares to use as mosaic “tiles”. This same technique could be used with colourful scrap paper or wrapping paper bits.
