How to make a Fruit Loops cake

Breakfast for dessert? Why not! Let's make two dreams come true: sugary cereal plus cake.

Before you start to decorate, you need to prime your cake. Spread a thin layer of of frosting to seal in the crumbs—the pros call this a “crumb coat.” Let the icing harden for 30 minutes in the fridge. Add a topcoat, and let the fun begin.

1. Grab a box of Froot Loops or other coloured cereal, and sort according to hue. (This is an awesome job for kids.)

2. Arrange cereal in columns (or rows, or even diagonal lines if you’re feeling ambitious).
