Kids' birthday cake ideas: Sheriff badges
Having a cowboy-themed party? Then you'll need birthday cake ideas for your western hoedown. These sheriff badge cookies make perfect themed cake toppers.

Materials:
- baked sugar cookies (in assorted star shapes)
- yellow-tinted royal icing
- black food colouring pen
- yellow chocolate candies
Directions:
1. Dip the flat surface of one side of each cookie into the royal icing. Pull the cookie up and let excess icing drip back into the bowl. Lay dry-side down on a rack.
2. Immediately place a chocolate candy at each star point. Let royal icing dry completely, preferably overnight. When icing is dry, use the food colouring pen to write names on each cookie.
