The best in family fun: Newfoundland and Labrador

Bird Island Puffin Festival
July 15- 22

Home of the beautiful Atlantic Puffin, the tiny town of Elliston is also known for its ancient technique of storing root vegetables in cellars. Bring the family here for a tour and then dig into a traditional meal of Jiggs (which can consist of pickled salt beef, boiled potatoes, cabbage and pease pudding) cooked the old-fashioned way. What goes best with great food? Live local entertainment — including a Peninsula Idol show.
