The best family-friendly films of the year

Over the past year we've seen some great family-friendly films that entertained both kids and adults alike.

We've compiled a list of our 10 favourites... we hope you enjoyed them too!

Brave

Studio: Disney-Pixar
Featuring the voices of: Kelly Macdonald, Billy Connolly and Emma Thompson

Strong-willed Scottish princess, Merida, has a tongue as sharp as her archery skills are exact. With a tangle of the most beautiful red hair you'll ever see, Merida resists the attempts of her parents, King Fergus and Queen Elinor, to see her wed to a rival clansman to keep the peace. When the princess shirks her royal duties and sets off to enlist the help of a witch in a desperate attempt to change her fate. However, in doing so, Merida unwittingly unleashes a curse that could potentially tear her family — and the entire kingdom — apart.

Wreck-It Ralph

Wreck-It Ralph suffers from a serious case of jealousy. He wishes he were as beloved as his game’s good guy, Fix-It Felix. But, nobody loves a bad guy. When a modern, first-person shooter game arrives on the scene, Ralph sees it as his ticket to happiness and fame. He sneaks into the game but soon wrecks everything, accidently unleashing a deadly enemy that threatens every game in the arcade. Will Wreck-It Ralph be able to save the day — or will it be game over?

Chimpanzee

Studio: Walt Disney
Narrated by: Tim Allen
Release date: Now available on DVD and Blu-ray

This Disney Nature documentary story follows the survival of three-year-old chimpanzee, Oscar, who gets separated from his mother during an attack by a rival chimp gang. While the film may leave you a little teary-eyed there are still plenty of entertaining and adorable moments that the kids will enjoy.

Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey
