SWEET SUSHI

Got it? White leggings, white shirt or coat.
Get it: Duct tape or Velcro to attach a salmon-coloured pillow to the back of the shirt. A satiny green “seaweed” bow wraps up this idea.
Make it spooktacular: Chopsticks slid into the hair take this look from fishy to fabulous.

ROCKIN' CAVE GIRL

Got it? Anything in a bold leopard print.
Get it: A large piece of fun fur (from the fabric store) tied around her waist and in thin strips around the arms and legs. Fur boots complete the look.
Make it spooktacular: Streak brown makeup across her face and accessorize her hair with a giant dog bone painted pink.

SCUBA DUDE

Got it? Black sweats, an empty two-litre pop bottle.
Get it: Pop bottle spray-painted silver with red electrical tape wrapped around the ends. Attach plastic tubing to a snorkel with duct tape, then tape tubing to the bottle. Wear a scuba mask.
Make it spooktacular: Create flippers out of play foam (from craft store). Cut them slightly larger than shoes, but not so big that your little swimmer will trip on them. Tie on with laces or Velcro them onto shoes.

HIGHWAYMAN

Got it? Black T-shirt, pants and sweatshirt, yellow electrical tape, toy cars.
Get it: Yellow electrical tape cut into even strips and applied to create two lines down the front of his shirt and pants. Use Velcro to attach toy cars.
Make it spooktacular: Print a road sign off the Internet (search “road sign images”). Attach the sign to a wire, slip it down the hood of his sweatshirt, then tape the wire to his T-shirt.

GARDEN GNOME

Got it? Blue pants, blue shirt, winter boots.
Get it: Batting from a fabric store glued onto white felt, then cut into the shape of a beard and attached with Velcro to a cone hat. We made the hat from an old fleece scarf and stuffed batting inside to help hold the shape.
Make it spooktacular: Wrapping Daddy’s man-sized belt around that little baby belly accentuates your gnome’s short stature.

FAB FORTUNE TELLER

Got it? Several skirts in different colours and lengths, printed scarves, a peasant-style blouse.
Get it: Skirts layered from longest (on the bottom) to shortest. Scarves tied around waist and another around her head, gathered on one side with elastic.
Make it spooktacular: Pile on the jewellery — bangles, rings necklaces, earrings — the more bling the better.
