Coolest. Teacher. EVER.
We absolutely love how North Carolina teacher Barry White Jr. welcomes his grade 5 class into the room each day by performing personalized handshakes with every one of his students.
Did we mention he has three different classes? That's about 60 different handshakes to remember—on top of all the other things teachers need to keep track of throughout the school year.
White told WCNC that he does this as a way to develop the teacher-student relationship. "Before I’m able to deliver a substantial amount of content to them, they have to invest in the teacher," he said. Handshakes definitely seem like a good way to do just that.
The best part? Each handshake is a collaboration between him and the student, so each one is tailored to the student's personality. He even has handshakes with a few teachers and students in other grades. Make us a handshake next, Mr. White!
