Reese Witherspoon has finally addressed the issue of her and husband Jim Toth's arrest over the weekend.
Reese Witherspoon, 37, showed up all smiles at the Mud premiere last night (Sunday), but remained mum about the wild events that transpired last Friday. Today, however, she's issued a statement about her arrest — apologizing for her treatment of the police officer:
Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said.
It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. The words I used that night definitely do not reflect who I am. I have nothing but respect for the police and I'm very sorry for my behavior.
The statement came in via Reese's rep. It's a good statement, apologetic and gracious.
Sighh, the whole thing is definitely disappointing, though (especially since a DUI is involved). But it goes to show, of course, that no one's perfect — not even our dear, dear Reese Witherspoon. We wish her well.
